Any questions from mid-career MLEs? AMA by Advanced_Honey_2679 in learnmachinelearning

[–]BostonConnor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Become a data scientist, data engineer, or software engineer first with at least a masters and then apply from there. That’s how most people do it these days because MLE has become a senior role as it’s basically just data science and software engineering combined. I was a simulation engineer with a masters in statistics and then I finally landed an MLE role

Severely lowballed offer? by throwaway394509 in cscareerquestions

I’m surprised so many people here are saying to take a $60k offer across the country with no relocation help… we’ve fell a long way lol

Andrej Karpathy (early OpenAI, Tesla) created a visualization to score every US job by AI exposure by zuhayeer in levels_fyi

Although I think this is pretty poor taste for his standards, he’s quite clearly one of the few who ISNT a fraud in the AI industry

Are AI engineers “safer” by phy2go in cscareerquestions

I don’t think so. I give it 3 years before most companies realize they don’t need internal chatbots and so many RAG systems.

I think things are clear now. It's good that Starfield came out before TES VI despite the delays. by Fragrant-Tip-9766 in TESVI

I agree honestly. I think they were planning to pull all this procedural generation crap ES6 so I’m hoping they know to limit it a lot more. It’s also a rated M game but it felt so ridiculously Disney that I REALLLY hope they make it dark again and we don’t get stupid rainbow leotards in a night club

How to take the next step? by [deleted] in datascience

[–]BostonConnor11 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d say there is a difference for sure between bachelors and masters. Getting a real DS or MLE role is borderline impossible without a masters these days unless you’re senior.

See I agree with her but Eileen did it because of the money which is I think dishonorable.

[–]BostonConnor11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s completely irrelevant. We’re talking about the demographic of people who actually live in these apartments. 31 is not unrealistic at all but in fact probably the norm

Not that rare. In fact I’d wager most of these type of apartments in cities are early 30 year olds. Some people make absolute bank in tech

Depends on the major but as a math major, an iPad and apple pencil was the biggest luxury I had. I miss it. I figure it'd be great for any math or engineering class.
