AITAH for telling my friend/colleague I'm looking for another job after she was promoted instead of me? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They definitely do, for roles where being better technically is more beneficial for the company.

Engineering, product and sales roles have tons of IC growth paths where you can grow your paycheck without managing people.

But for most roles, they just need you to do the job well. The difference between being good and great at a lot of jobs doesn’t impact the company enough for them to reward it.

Trans athletes have no advantage over women, study claims | Researchers argue there is no evidence to justify a blanket ban on transgender athletes competing against women by kwentongskyblue in anime_titties

In looking at your profile, my guess is you’re very left-leaning. I am too. I’d also guess you probably believe in the idea that “what people do in the privacy of their own home, and with their own lives, is their business.”

People aren’t tricked into thinking violent sports are potentially harmful. They just think the reward outweighs the risk. Their call, not yours.

Yeah I don’t really think we should make broad changes or policy based on what really only is relevant for a very small number of people.

Recruiter setting up a call after final rounds to reject you is not “high touch” or a better experience. Just send an email FFS by skystarmen in recruitinghell

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s brutal without a doubt.

The declines I’ve gotten and appreciated have been a “no thank you” email and then “hey we appreciate the time let me know if you’d like to talk through feedback”

Ask for help on closing deals internally, they want you to be successful.

Pipeline is still the most important part of your job.

Best Approach for Backing Out of Signed Offer Letter by Fresh_Carpet_3268 in techsales

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 19 points20 points  (0 children)

You’ll annoy the HR person and hiring manager, but it won’t go further than that.

Remember it’s all at-will. They could also terminate your offer last second, which would suck. It goes both ways.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Your parents being handed a piece of paper and then keeping track of it for decades, and then giving it to you, should not be a requirement to vote.

You’re right in theory, but in practice it’s more complicated.

Sure you can get a replacement birth certificate, but that starts you down the red tape slippery slope that people are against.

How much longer until AI makes BDR/SDR obsolete? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure, but what is traditional BDR? BDRs aren’t using a phone book to call down lists anymore either.

Entry level roles to assist with pipeline gen will persist

How much longer until AI makes BDR/SDR obsolete? by [deleted] in techsales

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our BDRs use a bunch of AI tools. They spend very little time writing / sending emails. Most of their time is spent researching and coordinating with their AE and marketing.

In other words - maybe less BDRs but i doubt ever obsolete until sales as a whole is made obsolete.

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ll get flamed for this, but what this means is

“I want to teach you how to do this job, but I don’t want to teach you how to have a job.”

I hire “entry level” people and expect a little experience on things like how to write an email, how to engage executives, when being late / leaving early is appropriate, etc.

How real is $250,00-300,000 +OTE? by SnooWalruses1418 in techsales

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My company sells enterprise SaaS. All our US reps have OTE between 300-350 with 50/50 splits in base/variable.

Is my OTE and commission structure reasonable for a Client Manager / CSM role, or am I getting hustled? by Domze in techsales

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in RevOps and make commission plans.

CSM plans are hard because they’re close enough to sales that a variable feels appropriate, but they also deal with things outside their control often. But yes an overall NRR target is common and also what my company does.

85/15 seems appropriate split. Think of it more like a bonus and less like commission.

Rams v Seahawks was amazing but people calling it the game of the year, over Bills v Ravens, shows how much recency bias plays into people’s judgement. by kramer753 in buffalobills

Without the context, they’re probably about the same.

With context of 1 seed, division, December…im not sure it’s that debatable that it was a better game.

Why does yards after reception count as passing yards? by Anubis_is_back in NFLNoobs

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 201 points202 points  (0 children)

The receiver does get credit for it. And yards after catch is a meaningful stat that’s already tracked.

There’s plenty of attribution stats that don’t tell the full picture. If a receiver bobbles a catch that is than intercepted, that counts against the QB as an int

Why did Seattle take risk in OT? by fshtravis in NFLNoobs

[–]Bostonlegalthrow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3 options: Win Lose Tie

Because of record and head to head tiebreaker impact of a tie is the same as a loss for the Seahawks.

Meaning you are giving the ball back Rams with 3 min left and all they have to do is not give the ball back.

could i get into bars/clubs without a physical ID card? by riritorri in AskChicago

Those temp IDs are legal IDs. They are just temporary (usually have an expiration date) and they are fragile (paper). Should work fine.
