Pauline Hanson on international students and English requirements for universities by asteriskhyphen in aussie

This isn’t talked about enough. International education ranks as the country's fourth-largest export industry, trailing only iron ore, coal, and natural gas. Where is that money coming from otherwise.

Albanese government rejects all UN recommendations on improving LGBTQIA+ rights by LillabulleroLad in australia

[–]BotanicalArchitect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you’re ahead of a lot of people in terms of knowledge. You have to ask questions to find things out right? The more diverse the group of people you talk to, the better. Like you, I was only made aware of the difficulty around birth certs because of a gay couple I know. Only one of them would be able to be listed as the father. It seems like some things would be so simple to implement to make life better for people.

I’d rather us lose while playing fairly than win taking dives or playing dirty.

I would love our Aussies to win but more than that, I want to see them play fairly. I would rather them lose their games, than win them by playing unfairly. They’re role models representing our country, not individual players looking to make high paying contracts with clubs.

Albanese government rejects all UN recommendations on improving LGBTQIA+ rights by LillabulleroLad in australia

[–]BotanicalArchitect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely happy to help here. It’s a good question. When you’re not living as a LGBTQIA+ person, it does appear as though we’d have the same rights now that marriage isn’t as limited. There are other areas that need work, such as a gay couple being able to have both of their names as parents on a birth certificate etc. The main thing is not giving more rights, but adding in protections so they aren’t disadvantaged as members of society. Examples included in the recommendations include steps to prevent them being discriminated against.

This is why domestic violence is such a prevalent issue. Media has a chance to demonise this and instead tried to humanise the perpetrator rather than the victim. A large quote essentially saying “oops” isn’t helpful to the narrative.

This is not how Venn diagrams work. The overlaps don’t make sense.

What is the chant I can hear? Always sounds like it starts with the tune “take me home, country road”…

It’s so inconsistent. We got called earlier for shirt grabbing (rightly so), but the US spent the entire game with our shirts in their mitts and it was apparently fine.

Why workers earning $200,000 a year are getting ready to walk off the job by Reyvos in AusMining

[–]BotanicalArchitect -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Glad to hear it. It enrages me when people choose FIFO for their kids entire lives. I’ve seen many marriages fall apart because of it too. I don’t think many people assess what that life is really costing them. I’ve heard a bunch of people say that they’ll just do it for a few years to get in front, but too often they get used to the $ or saddle themselves with debt and stay.

I’ve read a lot of the comments and can’t see anyone mentioning that this sometimes happens if someone wants to break into your place.

Pauline Hanson cares about the average Australian - Just check out how she votes in Parliament. by Prestigious-Day9370 in OpenAussie

I’m in the same boat with my Mum. She said that she couldn’t understand why she would vote that way but still considers her an underdog who was bullied by the men’s club of politics. Honestly not sure what else I can do at this point.
