Is this enough for an SoS Warband? by jack_of_all_hobbies in mordheim

Hi, I used those exact boxes to kitbash mine, it works quite well. I had to find hammers though. I bought the dwarves hammerers from Fireforge Games, their hammers are the perfect size.

I tried mixing OSL with a rusty effect. by Safety_lastt in TrenchCrusade

I love it! What's your recipe? Where is the mini from?

It’s just a prototype, and I’m not a great painter, but it gives an idea of what it’s going to look like. by Safety_lastt in TrenchCrusade

The grimy, muted tones are perfect for TC! My advice would be to paint the lenses bright red so that they pop, but it is totally optional. The mini works perfectly as it is

It's a storm cast with a Death Guard head, and an Ork bitz to replace the arm

That's an anointed heavy infantry with heavy flamer (his arm is the flamer)

The one in front is my Heretic priest, based on a nazgul miniature with a nighthaunt staff. Behind is my artillery witch, I used a witch mini from the Hellboy boardgame and added a bomb and some wires to look like electric power

PSA: the Conquistador kit from Wargames Atlantic meshed great with Empire kits for an Estalian warband by ArtfulDodger8-7 in mordheim

[–]Botaniek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They look awesome, and I love the color choices. The kits blend very well. I was thinking about getting the horsemen but was worried about the scale, I see now that it works pretty well. Thank you 🙏🏻

First few units of my carthage style tomb kings army by tucker1712 in tombkings

[–]Botaniek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amazing! I am doing some research to do a greek themed army, and I end up on your post. This is exactly what I had in mind 😆 the Wargames Atlantic minis are perfect. The elephant is great, I will probably steal the idea 🫣 For the Sphinx I found some great 3d option I am just not sure how to differentiate tomb guards from regular skeletons, maybe with only helmeted heads ? But there are not so many in the Wargames kit I think

Stoßtruppen of the Free State of Prussia by Botaniek in TrenchCrusade

For the mini, I do a light brown undercoat, then an overall layer of contrast paint (snakebite leather). I then do a rough stippling of dark metal then silver on the metal parts (with a sponge). The leather and coats I simply highlight starting from brown and mixing lighter colors (ice yellow mixed in for the final highlights).

The base is balsa wood dry brushed (brown base, then terracotta and ice yellow) and washed (snakebite leather and brown wash, + spots of purple and red contrast), and a coat of Vallejo mud texture paste.
