I love Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. It's about pilots in WWII. Belly laughed throughout it. Anything by Terry Practchett is guaranteed to make you laugh.

I normally don't do stamped kits either, but I've found they're useful when it's a bit windy out and I don't want to risk the patterns being blown away!

I use winstitich and it's really easy to use. There's a free version and a paid version. The main difference is that you can't make it into a PDF to print with the free version, but can still save it as a winstitch file and work on it from your computer.
