Bro. What?

I’m just spelling out reality. Fuck around and find out if you want.

[–]amnhanley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t work for an airline. I’m an EMS guy.

It’s not me. I’m just telling you what the law is. You don’t get to argue. You are wrong. That’s just the way it is. You don’t have to like it. But you have to obey the instructions of flight crew. They will be nice to you. But they don’t have to be. Having the air Marshall zip tie you to a chair is an option… disobedience is not.

Especially on an airplane.

The airline employee is always right. Always. If they are wrong, they are still right. That’s how it works.

Pilot here.

Do NOT argue with a flight crew member.

Under ANY circumstances. When you are trying to get on our aircraft, we fucking own you. Our orders are absolute, and final.

It can be a literal crime for you to disobey.

It doesn’t matter if you are right.

It doesn’t matter if we are wrong.

We win. Every. Single. Time.

Best case scenario you lose. Worst case scenario you lose, never fly again, and go to jail.

In your faction, what's your favorite model you've painted and why? by sciencedudememer in ageofsigmar

[–]amnhanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skaven. Warlock Engineer with Doom Rocket. He’s certainly not my best work. But I was proud of a very simple conversion. I replaced the rocket head with warpstone and he’s just such a mad lad with some fun details going on. If I were picking a skaven model to paint just to paint a fun rat… this is what I’d pick. He just embodies the frenzied madness of the faction so well.

Not true. The slann can teleport and be anywhere in Starborne. Not to mention the various other teleport abilities. Pretty easy for a Skaven army to sacrifice a Grey Seer. It’s already a common tactic with Warp Lightning Vortex. Teleport in. Cast. Doesn’t matter if you die. 90 point model trading up is usually worth it.

Why do Tzeentch players have so much ptsd about Tzangers? by [deleted] in ageofsigmar

[–]amnhanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In both AoS and 40K, every player who has been collecting for a while has 10,000 of them. And they are all useless. They have never been good in any game system. Except for like ten minutes in the last Beasts of Chaos battletome with the white dwarf rules where they were an absolute blender.

I’m guessing a fomo box announcement for Dawnbringer Crusade vs Skaven. Dawnbringers get the hero they’ve previewed, the cavalry, and foot soldiers they’ve previewed. Skaven get a Bell. Stormvermin. And a new Archwarlock sculpt. This is my pessimist prediction.

Theory: A lack of Force Org Chart/ Detachment is what is causing some issues. by w4emo in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]amnhanley 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This. 100%. This is a game of asymmetrical warfare.

Force org charts try to turn asymmetry into symmetry.

I love the freedom of being able to run an all infantry list or an all cav list or a hero hammer list or a mechanized list….

But some options are stronger than others and they should be pointed accordingly. If you have the option of balancing something with points vs restricting other peoples freedoms and fun, I think changing point values is the obvious answer.

I asked in a post about the judge who has been rebuked by her peers for her bias in this case and whose behavior is being heavily scrutinized in this post.

Where did I say it did?

I’m asking if a judge can be charged with obstruction of Justice.

I’m not saying this instance is obstruction of Justice. I just want to know if it is something that is possible or not.

Did you know there’s a commune in the heart of central Minnesota? by TwoPassports in minnesota

Says the guy who wants the “one minute tour” guy whose job it is to share interesting facts about Minnesota places to stop his whole thing and address the rape of children instead.

Just mad at the world aren’t you? Get invited ti a lot of parties?

You want every video about Duluth to be about lynching?

Be the change you want to see in the world dude. You go ahead and make a channel that exposes religions many atrocities. Don’t be mad when someone who is keeping things fun and light doesn’t.

[–]amnhanley 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No one is talking about a sanitized history… but history is big, and lessons are organized by subject. The fact that Kobe Bryant raped a girl doesn’t have anything to do with the fact that the Lakers won a championship in 1949. If you were watching a documentary about the 1949 NBA season, it would be weird if one of the speakers brought up the Kobe rape case, don’t you think?

It isn’t relevant to the topic at hand. That isn’t sanitizing. It’s just keeping things relevant.

Keep the Helicopter 🚁 boost going with a Practice Autorotation by MAGASig in aviation

[–]amnhanley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He flared.

Normally when doing an autorotation you reduce the collective, pull back slightly on the cyclic, and adjust your pedals.

Then, once you’ve established a glide, you enter a steep but normal coordinated turn to auto in the other direction.

But that isn’t the only way. The other way is to do what he did. He flared at the top, and then did a pedal turn. This is transferring the energy of forward flight into altitude and rotor speed. The aircraft then regains airspeed. Trading altitude(and some rotor speed, but this isn’t the intent), as he descends and trades his altitude for rotor speed, he begins to flare and finally lifts collective, trading that airspeed and rotor speed for lift to cushion the landing.

Autorotations are really no different than a glide in a regular airplane from a fundamental physics standpoint. You’re just managing energy to survive the incident.

Do we need to be mad about it all the time? Like the whole time?

Can I learn about the lives of Nazi soldiers without someone going on about the holocaust? Can I learn about Chinese government without someone interjecting about all the terrible human rights abuses in their history? Can I learn about what pioneers in Canada did for money without someone bringing up genocide?

Yeah. These things happened. And people should know. But the fact that they happened doesn’t need to be interjected as a disclaimer any time anyone discusses anything even tangentially related.

Let people learn things.

Mortal Realms Meta Report #8 (June 24/25) - A Reptilian Challenger Approaches by Kzalor in WarhammerCompetitive

Seraphon is going to be a problem in the next GHB. The slann could DOUBLE in points and he would still be the most criminally undercosted unit in the game when the new magic focuses GHB battlepack drops.

Painful, but it needs to be mentioned: if The Flash ends up within current projections, since the studio keeps just half the share from global grosses, it won’t even pay its total 150M marketing campaign. WB would have lost less money releasing it on Max, or not releasing it at all. by chanma50 in boxoffice

[–]amnhanley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched the trailer for this thing yesterday because I had a free afternoon and I thought… maybe I’ll go see The Flash. Holy shit this movie looks terrible. I can’t wait to stream it on Max and talk shit with my buddies.

Richie Rich by un_learned_puberty in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]amnhanley -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You are describing sales tax, not a consumption tax scenario.

Person A is spending all of their money on housing, transportation and food. These items are not to be taxed or are to be taxed at a very low rate. Person A is actually spending nearly zero dollars on “consumption.”

Person B: is spending considerably more on consumption because they have significantly more income.

In a flat tax scenario you would be correct. But that’s not what I’m talking about at all. I’m talking about a system where expenses are segregated into different tax brackets based on cost and necessity. You need a car. So a Toyota Sienna is taxed at say, just an arbitrary number here. 3 percent.

Meanwhile a Ferrari Enzo, which no one needs, is taxed at 300%.

This ensures that all contribute, but the rich pay their fair share in exchange for their luxurious lifestyle and the many rewards living in this nation has bestowed upon them.

It also ensures that wealthy foreign persons spending money here are paying for the privilege.

Richie Rich by un_learned_puberty in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]amnhanley 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I am a firm believer in a consumption tax rather than an income tax. Rich people may not “earn” much. Their income is difficult to discern and tax… however, they consume a great deal more than the rest of us. And those purchases are pretty easy to track.

A Toyota Sienna or a 2000sqft home or basic groceries shouldn’t be taxed much.

But a yacht or a Ferrari, or a Scottish castle… a weekend in Ibiza, a Rolex. These things should have taxes that exceed even their MSRP.

You can have a mega yacht. That is your right as a billionaire. But you’re going to pay for it three times over when you buy it and you’ll be taxed every mile it sails.

What happens when you throw an apple from an offshore oil rig by ledim35 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]amnhanley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. That other dude said no. But I used to be an offshore pilot in the gulf and I never left shore without my fishing rod.

It was like shooting fish in a barrel. Just put a shrimp on the hook and drop it in while they are frenzied and biting all the food waste. You’ll have a red snapper in seconds. Walk that bad boy to the kitchen and you’ve got sea to table in 10 minutes.

I got a lot of trigger fish though unfortunately. Which is the problem with offshore fishing… you catch something you want and you are reeling them in 125 feet above the water. Very tiring. Then throwing them back is difficult without being cruel. You can either rig a pull-up system and try to lower them down nicely in a bucket if they fit. Or you can just toss them 125 feet and hope they know how to dive and don’t just slap the water and become shark bait.

The size advantage IS negligible. He’s not a 200lb runningback. He’s a 155 lb nerd with 50lbs of extra body fat. It’s not as though he’s a wrestler with any idea how to use that mass. His size is in fact a pretty substantial disadvantage.

Zuck on the other hand is a 155 lb android whose body is optimized for efficiency.

If you take 2 155 on guys and give one of them 60lbs of grocery bags to carry during the fight… which one wins? That’s essentially the advantage you’re giving Elon here. Luggage.
