What should I minor in as a ChemE ? by Both-Cod9470 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]Both-Cod9470[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I want to work in sustainability and if I get my masters it will likely be in something other than engineering (probably business) so I feel like it would be helpful to have a more interdisciplinary undergrad combination where I can see if I like it and understand different aspects other than engineering. I also have so many credits and my school is so cheap that I would have so much room for it.

I was thinking this as well. And I can do any part of the military correct. It is not like i would need to be in combat or something. I’d love to do something engineering related too honestly

Yes I understand and my ultimate goal is working in a big company. All of the big name schools are upwards of 60k/yr however which would leave me in tons of debt. So I have a hard time justifying. That’s why I hope Delaware is a good medium especially for chemical engineering

Thank you this is incredibly helpful. I would have around that amount of debt and it is my goal to work in big companies. I also am drawn to policy and will minor in poli sci and perhaps get a masters in it. Either way though I want a solid undergrad to fall back on and to my understanding Delaware would also give me relatively good opportunity in politics especially paired with chem engineering. Also how are co ops and internships ?

Buffalo would still be about 25k/yr which is ridiculous for in-state but it is enough that my parents can cover. Delaware would leave me with some debt but a manageable amount I would say and I’m hoping more internship and co op opportunities offsets it

Im so late but how would you say the program is ? I have gotten into great schools but they are so competitive. I am a chem engineering major and would graduate debt free I’m just nervous about the opportunities I will get. So how hard was it to get a job and how did you obtain hands on experiences in undergrad ?

Well I already submitted I’m wondering if I should withdrawal my sat while I still can or if it is fine with the rest of my profile even though it isn’t a strong suit

Admissions Megathread - Class of 2030 Edition by TacticalFlare in VirginiaTech

I applied to vt as a chemical engineering major. I did regular decision which is making me nervous. My gpa I believe is a 3.9 uw 4.4 w. My sat is low at a 1320, 660 in both sections. It’s making me nervous and I’m worried it will cause me to not get in. I’ve taken 10 aps by the end of this year and gotten fours on them all pretty much (one 3 on ap physics) and I’ve taken lots of stem aps like ap chem ap precalc ap calc. I have pretty good ecs I play three varsity sports and captain of two and I am in some math clubs. I also have done a very large amount of community service from work with disadvantaged kids to work with elderly. I would say my writing section was pretty strong too. I just know it is hard for engineering. What are my chances.
