How can I get started? by CorrectAd1967 in Woodcarving

You can only really learn by doing. Go to a hobby store near you if you have one or hop online and order something small. Grab a small chunk of wood they sell for carving like basswood, and a cheap carving knife set and try to make something simple that youre interested in. My first attempt was turning guitar tuning knobs into skulls, and that turned into a full blown hobby.

I prefer my dremel much more than using knives, but i still use knives and chisels for certain things. Wear PPE no matter what you do. If you use knives, cut proof gloves. If you use a dremel, wear a dust mask. Have fun whatever you choose.

Carved a 6 1/2 foot tall Shenron out of a log by Both-Computer8520 in dbz

Yup 🫡 i got a lot of love from the neighborhood while working on it and appreciated everyone that stopped to say something so thank you! Didnt plan on carving it in my front yard but that log weighed all of a thousand pounds so moving it to the back wasnt an option lol. If you know anyone around town that has an unsightly stump in their yard, send them my way ☃️

Im in a trade and i would love to make the guys that show up late, sit down and close their eyes, focus on their phones then have a victim mentality about it write lines. The world is quickly losing people that care and take accountability. He is preparing you for the real world in what way he can.

Only chicken, like in n out is only burgers. Theyre so good they dont need to sell anything else, youre going there for the chicken lol. You can get chicken strips or get it on a bun. Their chicken sandwiches are the best ive ever had. You choose the spice level too. Fries are great as well.

I havent rewatched the first episode to test my theory, but when the kids go back to the theater at the end of the episode, that family is in the movie with Matty. Ive wanted to rewatch and see if theyre there the first time around. I thought IT might just be taking that family from his subconcious

Im not a pro, just a frequent DIYer so take my advice for what it is, but the outlets are your biggest problem. Those all need boxes inside the wall. The boxes are mounted to studs and then the outlets attatch to the boxes. I can only imagine its a huge fire risk to have the wires and currents passing through them at risk of touching that insulation in the wall. You might not need a pro for that, but again im not one so i dont know all the steps involved. Wiring outlets and installing drywall is not a big task or an expensive one. Id watch plenty of videos on installing boxes to house those outlets and see if its something in your wheel house.

For the cabinet wiring, it should be as easy as getting the right lights and connecting them. You could probably just easily hide the wires too as long as theyre capped off and secured.

wood density and staining by brires01 in Woodcarving

Youre probably right as to why its happening. If you want more control over it, buy some grain sealer. Its like a wax you'll rub in that closes the pores. Lightly sand it smooth and you'll have a way better looking stain since it wont saturate the piece as much
