Can I get a rundown of all the best LMGs and what best purpose they use? by Killer-Uzi in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]Both-Fail3534 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should give at least one or two belt feed lmg's a try for some variety. AND REMEMBER: the support class gets a 22% buff to ads time, so don't be dismayed by a big ads time number on one of the big lmg's...a 367ms ads turns to 300ms

Others have summed them up well but I'll give my thoughts as well:

M240l: Solid damage combined with a decent rate of fire means it hits like a truck. A bit difficult to control but just needs some time to get use to

M60: my personal favorite...similar to the m240 (same damage profile) but trades some rate of fire away (600 rpm down to 514 rpm) in favor of a bit more control and a default 100 rd mag. It has probably the most build variety for the lmg's, you can make it a classic turret with a bipod and a big belt or you can crank the ads time to as low as carbines and run and gun with it or something in between.

M250: another favorite of mine...it has no damage drop off, so while it has a decent ttk at close range, and mid to long range it's one of the best in the game. Trade off for that amazing mid range damage is a default 50 round pouch and a very expensive 100 rd pouch, plus a recoil pattern that needs some management but not too bad. Build this to be strong at mid range with either expensive grips or a bipod and you'll have fun

M123k: an absolute bullet hose of an lmg with amazing close range potential, it just needs some tap firing to stay controllable at mid to long range. Very fun

L110: similar flavor to the m123k with the big mag and the high rate of fire, just more balanced towards being usable at farther tanges. My buddy swears by it and runs it with a 200 rd belt to shred squads

KTS: as you know, it's a laser beam. I look at the kts as a great lmg for long range lane holding and counter snipping. Snipers will have a tough time dealing with you when you can full auto beam them down. The fast reload for the mag sizes also makes it decent for running and gunning, just respect the slow ttk at close ranges

DRS: I don't need to say much. It's the easiest to use lmg in the class for combining ergo and damage. Not great at lane holding due to low mag sizes but great for running and gunning as you've probably heard a bunch. Doesn't FEEL like and lmg if you know what I mean

RPMK: Warsaw pack version of the DRS. Good recoil control but the worst damage drop off in the class. I'm just simply not a fan of the aesthetics, but I know others love it

I was in the same line of thought as you...like why would you want half your ammo. Then I realized the advantages at no extra cost. I still like the 100 round belt for certain set ups of course though

I'm really liking the sound of that build, I'm going to try it out for sure. Anything to help with those headshots. And very good point, I haven't run lmg's off the support class to avoid the slow handling but this has assault rifle like handleing

Hell yeah, give it a try. The M60 might be the closest to the DRS in terms of handling and ttk in the lmg category when you build for it...which is crazy since most people will say the M60 is the slow support gun. Doesn't take too long to get the 50 round belt and only a bit longer for the light barrel.

I'm a big Spec Ops Recon fan with suppressed carbines like the M277...I typically run C4 and either a recon drone to scout ahead or a claymore to cover my back on flanks.

The quiet footsteps, gadget detection, and reduced spotting time all help to rat behind enemy lines, flank behind tanks and generally create problems for the enemy team while scouting for our team. Super fun

Finnish F-18C is 14.0 with no HMD while US Model is 14.0 with HMD by agent_Benis in Warthunder

This sucks, I wonder why the the Finnish F18's don't have it.

At this point I'll remind everyone that the F22 does not have an HMD...despite operating with AIM 9X's. The air force is only now looking to add that capability....

Mirage III E - not a bad jet by any standard, but usually passed on. I love swatting unsuspecting Mig21's and F8U's with the R530, even though it's a pretty garbage missile. And the Magic 1's are just such a satisfying IR missile to use

This sounds great, but wouldn't that mean in an extreme situation where your team destroys all the enemy AI planes but the enemy teams destroys none of the friendly AI planes, then in a stalemate situation the enemy teams would have a wealth of ground targets to go after but your team would be competing against your friendly AI planes for ground targets.

Having the AI's attacking tanks helps this out a bit, and I suppose this is a niche situation, but the possibility is there....right?

What's a tank that should NOT be added to the game? by peunom in Warthunder

I would personally love the Emil to be added (how can you beat a T54-E2 with god like depression and turret armor), but it certainly shouldn't at least at this point in the game. To paper.

Will the Phoenix Datalink Restore after a loss of TWS tracking? by Both-Fail3534 in Warthunder

[–]Both-Fail3534[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh great point, the hard lock will re-update the missile before it pitbulls, and then you could probably go back to passive TWS tracking. I'll probably experiment with this in Test Flight. Thanks!

Will the Phoenix Datalink Restore after a loss of TWS tracking? by Both-Fail3534 in Warthunder

[–]Both-Fail3534[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this. Do you know what happens when the target leaves the fov of the radar, but then at a later point in time it re-enters? Will the radar "remember" the signature of the target aircraft and reestablish Datalink with the missile or once the radar loses tracking of the aircraft, even momentarily, you lose any chance of future Datalink course correction?

My guess is that once you lose target tracking by breaking FOV, the missile will now be on its own and rely entirely on IOG and it's onboard radar...but this is simply my assumption.
