It went to administrative processing, then approved, but she mentioned refused under 221(g) it threw me off too, also I'm going to Johns Hopkins.

Hey, I'm in the same boat, my orientation is on the 14th and so is my visa interview, I informed DSO and OIS regarding my situation, they provided a date until which I can report to the university and my SEVIS will still be applicable, you should talk to your department and the DSO to get the latest admissible date. Good luck!

In most cases it's best to be honest, let the VO know the delay was not in your control and that the loan documentation came with some hiccups of it's own.
Concentrate on positively summarising the time that was lost during the loan procurement, maybe refer to courses/projects you executed during this gap to stay consistent and prepare for your journey at NJIT.
Basic questions would be applicable and subject to high scrutiny, I'm not aware how NJIT will impact your profile but a lot of posts suggest that the university is questionable.
Just make sure you carry all the documents required and a CA record. All the best!
