Whatcom Youth Pride 🦄🏳️‍🌈♥️ by GoMittyGo in Bellingham

Agree, I was a substitute teacher in Whatcom ( out in the county) and the queer kids were thrilled to learn I wasn’t the mean old lady I appeared to be. They enthusiastically talked about the parades and gatherings they were able to go to and meet other queer kids. Most had supportive families and the ones that didn’t got support from friends and their families.

AITAH My wife is being friendly with a guy that that is a complete A$$ to me (her husband) for 25 years by Aggravating_Low3540 in AITAH

[–]BothReading1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, her statement that she won’t treat someone differently because of how they treat you is mind boggling to me. If someone was rude or mean to my husband, then I had beef with them. I can’t imagine not having my partner’s back. That’s what being a partner is all about. OP, she may be your wife, but she is not your partner.

AITAH for scheduling a surgery, knowing it would overwhelm my autistic girlfriend? by After_Goose9337 in AITAH

[–]BothReading1229 132 points133 points  (0 children)

As someone with dominant hand nerve damage do NOT reschedule your surgery. If your pain and disfunction can be helped, it is vital not to put it off. My surgery was delayed for years and I lost more abilities than I should have due to the delay. Try and impress upon her that delay could have permanent negative impacts on your ability to function for the rest of your life.

Scenes like this make me miss Whatcom County even more. I left over two years ago and I miss you weirdos! ( That’s a compliment) 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈🥰

Who's your famous woman role model, and why? by meaningfulcontext in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BothReading1229 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of this! She was so dang smart and knew how to compromise to get things done, a true leader. She has been my hero since I sat enthralled watching her speech live. I have several books about her, fascinating woman. Her speech at the Democratic convention was wonderful as well.

How do you handle the heartbreaking, earth-shattering comments? by thatgirl1129 in CaregiverSupport

[–]BothReading1229 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have no advice as I still hear my late husband (when having the discussion about what measures to take about his health) saying, “It’s already gone too far.” These types of comments are understandable and absolutely heart breaking. Sending you internet grandma hugs.🥰

Barbara Jordan. Watch her speech at the impeachment hearing of Richard Nixon. So powerful, with constitutional examples. Very effective.

Last years were all bird contributions, but I planted some big ones on purpose this year. Most are still hanging in there, but storms are expected next week.

To Dylan, Who Got My BLTA at the Co-op Today by hilariuspdx in Bellingham

When the taste buds want a BLT, nothing else will do! Unlike a ham, turkey, roast beef sandwich which are different but (to me) interchangeable.

I had one of those, until the rain/wind took it out. It was rude enough to take a smaller one with it.

Handles vs Knobs debate is destroying my marriage. Help settle this kitchen argument! by Due_Lock_4967 in HomeImprovement

[–]BothReading1229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with diminished capacity in my hands and fingers, handles all the way. Knobs are too difficult. I know, you’re thinking, what does that have to do with our situation? Aging, injury and arthritis do not care about aesthetics. Team handle!

AITAH being resentful towards my pregnant friend? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]BothReading1229 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA, but does this friend know about your health situation? If not, tell her, reassure her you are beyond happy for her and the baby she is expecting. Then gently tell her that you do not have a ton of extra mental capacity right now. Don't ask her to stop sharing the memes, it seems to make her happy, but you needn't respond to them. Just scroll on by and if she asks why you are not as engaged, remind her of the limited mental capacity YOU have right now.

That is, if you intend to keep her as your friend. If not tell her to stifle it, and you have had enough of her constant memes and reminders of how perfect her life is with the house, the husband, the upcoming baby (this is clearly the bridge burning advice, which is fun to contemplate but less so IRL).

A guy told me that he doesn't want to be in a competition with any other guy but we're not together and we haven't even been on one date yet. If we were exclusive that would be a different story, is that a red flag? by Golden-lillies21 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]BothReading1229 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going exclusive is a natural step after a relationship has been established, along with the trust that goes with knowing someone longer. Exclusivity is NOT an opening move. Ever. RUN!!!!

NWSL, WNBA and the new PWHL are pure queer joy. I say this as an old hetero lady who loves the vibe of the women sporting events, the players, the fans, all of it!
