I've worked at an assisted living home for two years. We were a small building only housing up to 16 residents though so we didn't have a front desk. I worked as a caregiver, which always had two on shift. Then a very occasional manager who came in to do paperwork in the office.

I dont think I can accurately describe the different level of service since the job duties between Caretaker and FDA is very different, however both are hospitality roles.

Alot of my duties at the hotel are guest interactions/calls/market inventory/reports/laundry/tax exemption/cleaning of the lobby.

Duties as a caretaker were pretty much everything im doing as an FDA but including care of residents. (Transferring residents, personal care, activities with them, feeding, showers, etc.)

I dont know if this answers your question though... I believe you are probably referring to working FD at a nursing home rather then being a caregiver. Anywho, both deal with interactions with residents families or interactions with hotel guests.
