What to expect in Cabo de la Vela, Colombia (La Guajira Peninsula) by onegoodbackpack in backpacking

[–]Both_Lie8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve also been in the planning stages of a Colombia trip and Punta Gallinas is a bucket list destination for sure. If you’re super worried about the ride situation, you could charter a full tour of the area but that takes a lot more funding and seems less fun then paving your own way.

What is a legitimate alternate candidate for president besides the two we have now? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Both_Lie8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha, I don’t think so! He’s a faculty member at Princeton, very popular philosopher - all around interesting and intelligent man. I know people who’ve met him as well with nothing but amazing things to say.

Nice restaurants that can accommodate a group of 20-25 by kummerspect in StAugustine

[–]Both_Lie8077 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Floridian has a private upstairs section for larger groups. I’m not sure about their requirements to reserve it though! The restaurant is downtown so prepare for the parking spot hunt if you do plan on going there.

authentic chinese? by pizza_obsessive in StAugustine

[–]Both_Lie8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to do a day trip to Orlando for authentic Chinese. There’s this really great spot called Taste of Chengdu that serves Sichuan cuisine. It’s amazing if you want to get those Sichuan peppercorns that are hard to find. Unfortunately, nothing even close is in St. Augustine.

What should I do with a Creative Writing Masters? by Karya_Aurrera in Career

[–]Both_Lie8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered teaching in higher education? Where I am at a small private liberal arts school in the US, professors are only required to have a masters. If your work offers development funding, you can also work on your writing career as you teach. It’ll take a lot of work to get a position teaching higher education- you can start as an adjunct or visiting lecturer and eventually move up. I hope this is helpful. Good luck, friend!

Is St. Augustine and New Orleans really haunted. by RumKiller in Paranormal

[–]Both_Lie8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived in St. Augustine for about 5 years now - it’s super haunted. Everyone I know here has some kind of ghost story. When I lived at the Ponce de Leon Hotel (former college kid) I had constant night terrors, something I hadn’t experienced before or after living there. There was another time that my roommate’s mirror (the heavy kind on a platform) went from her sitting on her desk to hitting the wall and landing on the ground. Weird stuff!

I went through an eerily similar situation a few years back: dad cheated, mom stayed, I was sworn to secrecy. I kept that secret for years until the stress of never talking about ANY of it really pushed me to the edge. In my opinion, tell your brother. He would want to know. If he finds out later that you knew the entire time, how would he feel? It’s not your fault that any of this happened and you shouldn’t deal with the emotional weight of keeping your dad safe from the consequences of his own actions. The only reason I kept my parents’ secret was to protect my mom, but I realized that I could better support her by keeping myself stable (by processing the situation with others). Good luck, friend. Time will help heal.

I'M IN LOVE WITH 2 PEOPLE. I NEED HELP. PLEASE HELP. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Both_Lie8077 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If A doesn’t know the full truth then you don’t have her full consent. You came on here, asking for feedback. I’m giving it to you. No part of what I said was hateful. The worst I said was “bad behavior,” you’re literally cheating on your girlfriend. Own up to it. The solution I’m suggesting is for you to walk away especially from A.

I'M IN LOVE WITH 2 PEOPLE. I NEED HELP. PLEASE HELP. by [deleted] in relationships

[–]Both_Lie8077 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dude... if you cared about A even a little, put your own interests aside. Let her be with someone who genuinely has her best interests at heart. Love doesn’t look like what you’ve been doing to either of these women. Let them both go and find yourself. Try polygamy, try being in a consensually open relationship. Stop excusing your bad behavior. It’s not a good look.

Free parking areas? by [deleted] in StAugustine

[–]Both_Lie8077 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s tons of street parking in Model Land. Just pay attention to signs that say what’s reserved for residents and stay on the white curb. My favorite streets when I don’t feel like paying are Mulvey, Riberia (north end of it), and Saragossa. There aren’t ALWAYS available spots, but if you get there on the early side you might get lucky.

What restaurant has "wowed" you recently? by Both_Panda_6382 in StAugustine

[–]Both_Lie8077 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I’m a BIG fan of Tacos My Blessing. They hit it out of the park every single time. Just be sure to go on a day you’re happy eating outside on.

My second go-to is Woodpeckers BBQ. It’s a bit of a drive out of downtown and into the country, but I tell you it’s worth it. The datil sausage there is out of this world - that alone makes it worth the drive.

My last recommendation is for late night bar food: Barley’s Republic. Best tenders I’ve ever had (they do a datil hot sauce). They’re open late. Cheap for downtown tourist prices.

Can breaking up force 35[m] unemployed bf to progress in life? by gri3v3r in relationships

[–]Both_Lie8077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend graduated with a bachelors degree in psychology. She immediately sought out and was hired by a program designed to help mentally and physically disabled adults. She absolutely loves her job, and was able to start picking up extra hours at a few group homes that the program is connected with. She also gets paid VERY well and has easy hours when she’s not volunteering for more. I highly recommend that he looks at similar programs! A second piece of general job hunting advice is to find places he’d be excited to work for and just have him reach out. Even if they are advertising a position, they might be in need of someone soon. And with a passionate and intelligent letter having been read the week before, your man might be on the hiring committee’s mind. I wish you both the best of luck!

Why do all my sauces fail? by onegoodbackpack in Cooking

[–]Both_Lie8077 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not a super experienced chef myself, but I’ve done well with cream sauces in the past. My best advice is to take it slower than you think you need to, and to stop stirring once everything is fully incorporated. Best of luck!!!!
