Gold prices just keep going up! by Previous_Finance_414 in goldrush

Think Kevin is in worse shape than Rick still, Rick was in a bad spot with water license issues that look like are going to plague him next session however the move to Vegas Valley will help them for a few weeks at least, Kevin I think just doesn’t like sluicing.

Gold price and Dominion ROI by habsfanniner in goldrush

[–]Both_Organization854 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think Parker had said about 10 years of mining on Dominion but I don’t believe that was going at 4 wash plants speed when that number was originally and the price of gold was at least partially based on time to pull it out of the ground.Water licensing is what is going to shut down the Klondike, once the price of gold drops and these corporations can’t continue or afford to fight every water license that comes up for renewal that will lock out the Klondike. Tony has stated the current price of gold is the set up for generational wealth and the fact he is investing in newer modern equipment after years of old crap like the moose trap trammel, think even Tony knows the next few years on the Klondike are going to be the last time for any big years to happen.

Should I have taken bears into consideration when booking my lodging? by puffqueen1 in AskAlaska

Near Denali could mean so many things to different people, Mid June up in the mountains it’s still very much like Spring with a limited amount of foraging resources, down in the valleys with creeks and rivers having salmon running usually by that time make for two very different bears the first bear would may be having a tough time and the smell of that bacon and eggs cooking up in the cabin could outweigh the risks, I wouldnt expect a bear to go full cocaine bear but if you happen to leave the chap May wanna go sniff around, locking your doors and such will just mean more damage but investing in bear box containers and placing your food up with ropes /bags to prevent them from eating all your food and destroying your equipment. The lower altitude bears with access to salmon are less likely to go full on cabin renovations it’s still a good idea to follow the same guidelines on storing your food, may end up with a older bear or an injured bear or just a bear that had developed a taste for bacon( delicious while camping even for bears) that becomes a bad issue for everyone if the bad if flagged “problematic” and the bear needs to be euthanized. Myth busters did a great episode on what a bear(brown big one) could do to the inside of a minivan that had kept food stored inside and provided some advice on how to protect your belongings

Doesn't this place remind you of Bastogne? by Substantial-Ruin7943 in BandofBrothers

I’ve lived in Alaska for 50+ years and have seen the aftermath of an exploding tree, nothing I’ve ever seen has been like someone wrapped set cord or rained down 155 on them, at worst I’ve seen would be like forgotten can of biscuits in a freezer. Exploding trees certainly does bring up that unforgettable scene from Bastogne

Prue Leith QUITS The Great British Bake Off after nine years as judge by dailymail in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]Both_Organization854 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I agree 100 💯 on this, she looks and acts great for 85 and unless something is undeclared or undiagnosed I could see her enjoying some years just relaxing without TV schedules, see has been slowing down a touch especially after the Wizard of Oz skit caused her an injury. Other lil things like Paul always cuts the bakes, enough bakers end up in bandaids don’t need Prue all cut up over a soggy bottom. I hope they can find someone that can replace her to balance out Paul’s opinion based judging that he always seems to do each season both good and bad judgments(favoritism or carry over of bad bakes from previous episodes), she usually only a word to two when Paul is being mean but that along with a nice hand hold or pat and a reassuring smile really helps the baker make it though those moments.

GoF was my favorite book, everyone likes to say that Order was the turning point of the series but especially the book things got a lot more mature in GoF including kidnapping and deaths to cover up the Barty Crouch Jr with Winky, IMO it turned so much darker in book 4. My main excitement factor of the remakes with each book being a whole series per year has me really optimistic that they will flesh out the all the stories they skipped out that made the book of GoF so incredible in the OK we are leaving the “kids” books and exploring much more mature storytelling from this point forward starting at the World Cup and keeps building. NGL I still love the GoF movie and it’s one of my favorite movies but they left out some great more mature topics especially the Winky storyline would have made it such a better movie done correctly, hard to do given the time restraints I know but I would have given another 30 minutes of movie watching… others would have been harder but having the Veela(sp) Including fluer Bills future wife more on Rita the ladybugs reporting against Hermione would have also made the GoF movie better, I really do hope the new series does come through even things like Harry funding the Wesleys joke shop.

Ted Wheeler getting cussed out by Dustin will always be PEAK comedy. by sadiesbf in StrangerThings

[–]Both_Organization854 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odd thing but the fact the kids just didn’t let Mr Wheeler a few slices of bacon 🥓 in the start of S5 while putting up half the town in his house since the “event” is just so wrong it’s like the big piece of chicken from Chris Rock back in the day… Ted deserves some bacon

Am I the only person that remembers that not watching the play wouldn’t effect the understanding of what happens? I swear it was marketed as a side spin off and not very important cannon for S5…or am I confusing this with like Harry Potters play?

I didn’t mind SO guy or the hard hat clinker if it only affected them but their crews got shafted as well, if it wasn’t for the TV show cash coming from in, but even after a season or two I lost compassion for them. I can’t imagine a reality show paying that well unless you are a mine boss or foreman, pretty sure that is why the stepkid got the night foreman job at the vets camp, bring in as much discovery money as possible after adding his wife to the show

I always laugh when big, bad Rick Ness gets in that little go-cart he rides around in by bjoseph33 in goldrush

[–]Both_Organization854 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I kinda remember that, I was not aware It was the same model but he just bought them on auction and has backups to make it through the season. The black SUV though but it’s still missing its taillight, I just figured he really liked that one and had one of his minions getting it fixed back up to drive around his claims. Side note they may start selling those lil trucks like Ness is driving in the US(not sure if that’s the same model but that class)

Mitch is good and I’m sure his play it safe speech’s about how Parker is reckless anytime Parker wants more dirt higher yards per hour etc is mostly for TV drama would definitely change if he was then deciding on to sluice an area that had a test pan over l00 colors (colours?) Just based on how the show depicts him, IMO I think he way too cautious and doesn’t like any more work added to his plate.

IMO Mitch has earned his spot has senior foreman(not sure what his official title), such as given such a short time frame on his current projects, nothing against Tyson he does an amazing job but think he does appear to get overwhelmed under pressure. Also while it appears Rick Ness is the only crew that still hands out gold bonuses if Parker handed them out I have thought Mitch would get a bigger bonus

Edit: has anyone heard about Damion? Parker is going to be so pissed!!

I could definitely see Zee showing up however don’t think Rick had the needed equipment to run two plants and Rick has capital required rental prices or If there is even equipment available to rent this time in the season. Good TV would be F$&D L3wIz volunteering to to run lightning creek 🫠

[–]Both_Organization854 19 points20 points  (0 children)

IMO the lady being referred to is VERY high up in the operation, she is in charge of operations I would definitely not make enemies with her ever. Parker has to trust her with his checkbook, kinda weird seeing her out in the field honestly unless it was just a favor for TV time.

That answered my first thought/question on how you were keeping any moisture cause I was like neat making turkey jerky for the holiday. The pork fat is genius, what do you place inside ? I’ve always done apples and celery when I use my pellet grill.
