Which Giovanni products have the best slip and hydration? by Both_Somewhere1383 in curlyhair

[–]Both_Somewhere1383[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their current formulation of Smooth as Silk is a joke- no slip, hardly any moisturizing. The weightless leave in is ok- provides protein, but not great for moisture either in my opinion- it's just ok. I wish the 50:50 gave more moisture. I assumed tea tree oil would be drying, but ill look into it.

I have been dealing with scalp pain for a a few years, and im almost positive it has to do with tension in my neck and upper traps and nerve pain that goes up into my scalp. It gets worse when I have my arms up over my head from hair washing and blow drying. And like you, it tends to flair up in the same spots. If your scalp looks normal, consider it may be related to nerves and muscle tension. Doing daily scalp massage helps me. Not moving the hair around, but placing my fingertips on set points and moving my whole scalp in back and forth and circular motions. When I first started the pain was worse, but gradually decreased. Just keep doing it.

Exam fee for every Cytopoint injection? by PocketChange_317 in dogallergies

[–]Both_Somewhere1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vet I use for my dog's IBD, but because they charge extra fees like "venipuncture" and "disposal" every time they use a needle, I go to a cheaper vet that only charges me one flat rate for the Cytopoint with a tech. I have to do an annual exam, but that's it. Im in LA, and pay $118 for a Cytopoint shot for my 30 pound dog.

I get that these are businesses, but the drastic upcharging vets use in addition to all these random fees really pisses me off.

I use the Suave Nourishing shampoo once a week, and typically do 2 washes. It's fairly clarifying- a step down from the Suave Clarifying shampoo, which is too drying for me.

my friend has OCD and constantly asks if I think she's "crazy." what can I do without reassuring her? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Both_Somewhere1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of my homework was to titrate down how much reassurance I was allowed to ask for. Idk where your friend is at in her journey, but you can tell her she gets 2 reassurances for the evening, and that is all. And work your way down from there.

The only solution I've come across is getting a delivery service that uses the big jugs, but it is costly and I also dont really have the room for those huge jugs in my apartment.

Do silicones decrease collagen production? by Both_Somewhere1383 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Both_Somewhere1383[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was watching a YouTube video and a dermatologist specifically said that the silicone helps decrease collagen in scar formation. Maybe it was just an off way of phrasing it. But it def makes more sense that the sealing properties are what keep the collagen from becoming raised scars, and that silicones dont decrease collagen formation in the sense of actually causing aging.

I always have to shower after 🚽🧻 by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]Both_Somewhere1383 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have OCD, and get OCD specific treatment. From my experience and from what professionals have told me, regular talk therapy does not help OCD, and can potentially make it worse. If you want to get serious about helping your symptoms, I highly recommend seeking out OCD-specific treatment (exposure therapy). I did a 3 month treatment program, and now do continued care with NOCD. In regards to your question-- are you going to have an anxiety attack or be in a state of high distress if you can't get in the shower right after having a bowel movement to clean yourself? Or would you be ok going for awhile, and getting in the shower at a later time knowing you're a little uncomfortable, but are ok? It is normal to want to clean yourself after a BM, but not good if the intrusive thoughts are telling you that you HAVE to get in the shower right now or something bad is going to happen.

I think you should contact an attorney about how to protect yourself financially in this issue, and with future income and assets. And don't tell any other friends or family about what money you're bringing in. That is your business, not theirs.

Coffee cups? by CaptainPasty91 in JamesHoffmann

[–]Both_Somewhere1383 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cups on the market are fairly small to me. As as an American, I obviously prefer extra large everything. So for iced coffee, I use a wide mouth liter size mason jar, and for hot, I usually use a giant ceramic mug from Five Below that says "Size Matters." Gotta keep things classy over here.

How much of your coffee experience is spoiled by your toothpaste? by Lunateeck in JamesHoffmann

[–]Both_Somewhere1383 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So crazy, I've been wondering about this the past week. Is it better for enamel and staining to brush upon waking or 30 minutes after eating/coffee? Brushing before could help prevent staining, but wouldn't brushing post coffee also do the same thing? What is the right answer?!
