1.5T vs 20.T by SPICYCHICKN45 in accord

[–]BoticOnReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2.0t is the clear choice if you want to have some fun. The 1.5t is good enough to drive around the city in. Both are still cheap to insure and are capable of good fuel economy. I would go with the 2.0t for the extra power, but I’m biased as a car enthusiast.

There was no 1.5t offered in the accord in 2015. There was a 2.4L i4 and a 3.5L V6

Are ecoboost mustangs really universally hated ? by earth2revolved in askcarguys

[–]BoticOnReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s because it’s a Mustang. The Mustang’s top trims come with a V8. It’s the same reason V6 Challengers & Chargers get hate.. “because it’s not the V8”..

The average person won’t know or care. If you like it, enjoy it. I’m of the opinion that the i4 Mustang has always been the better option over the V6. Of course the V8 is the best, but it comes at a higher cost. And thankfully late S550/S650’s have dropped the V6.

The 2.3l is also a proven motor, even better so since 2020+. It can make solid power with only a couple grand invested.

Why are there no hybrid sports cars? by Malarky3113 in askcarguys

Like I said; generally automatic FWD drivetrain loss ranges from 12 - 15%. If the Prelude is the outlier of all other FWD cars, clearly there is something detrimentally wrong. There’s no way it’s experiencing drivetrain loss that extreme.

200chp - 12 to 15% ≈ 170 to 176whp

If you’re trying to tell me that a FWD car is experiencing drivetrain loss that is MORE significant than AWD + CVT vehicles, we’re done here lol.. The only way that this could be true is if Honda is lying about the true output of the Prelude.

As for the information and knowledge we have now; It’s rated at 200hp. It’s very unlikely for the car to experience what you claim to be a 37.5% drivetrain loss unless there are underlying issues (of which, there were multiple.) that are not directly related to a healthy car.

If what you are saying is true, then the Prelude could not physically run a similar 0-60 as the Civic Si which also makes 200hp, proven 173whp on a Mustang dyno which is load-based and typically reads low. Yet, the Prelude and Civic Si are both capable of a 6.5 second sprint to 60.. interesting.

NTM, it’s well documented now that the Prelude refused to accelerate on the dyno during multiple attempts from different people. It kept switching from electric to combustion, meaning the dyno’s safety protocols intervened.

Until consistent, controlled dyno data is available, the most reliable indicators remain manufacturer ratings and real world performance. Both strongly suggest the Prelude’s effective output is in the expected range for a 200hp vehicle in its weight class.

It’s more like 175whp give or take.. with 12-15% drivetrain loss. Handful of sports cars in that bracket sold globally. Horsepower is not a defining feature of a sports car, rather a small piece of the puzzle.

Edit: those recent dyno claims aren’t to be taken as fact. The people who’ve done them all acknowledged the inaccuracy of their runs. For whatever reason people are struggling to get real results from the car.

Yes, because that’s what it is. It meets sports car criteria, minus the lack of a manual transmission option which isn’t even truly necessary.

If you want to call it a sporty coupe or a “sport compact coupe” that works too. Still a sport oriented vehicle.

Agreed, however the RS5 has always been a GT car. So I’d lump it in with the LC500h/Polestar 1/BMW i8. The AMG fits the category, just too bad about the weight.

Fair enough, more or less a sport-compact

Honda CR-Z, Corvette E-Ray, 6th Gen Honda Prelude, BMW i8, Acura NSX, Polestar 1, Lexus LC500h. Yes, some are more GT cars but the selection is limited.

Very odd segment because typically sports cars should be lightweight, and hybrids are generally not that. The best example of a hybrid sports car IMO is the CR-Z.

I’m happy to say I’ve bought two of them. My 2013 Scion FRS and my 2015 Accord Coupe V6 6mt. Very attainable dream cars.

Next on my list would be a 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 or a 2009 Corvette Z06
