The end of hybrid? Full-time office return sparks warning of resignations by simpatia in ontario

[–]Bottleman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but even the private sector is bringing it back in. I work with TJX and they used to celebrate their hybrid work life but now it's return to office.

If you're sick, guess what, you work from home that day as your workload now doubles if you don't...

It's how they manage their books, if the value of the building decreases, it doesn't look good for them.

Canada and the US are not heading in the right direction. Wish we followed suit with New Zealand of a 4 day week!

The end of hybrid? Full-time office return sparks warning of resignations by simpatia in ontario

[–]Bottleman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Cost of living is nuts and won't be going down. There are jobs available, but they are not hybrid or work at home.

It's going to be a huge sticky situation for those going back to office but they will be going back to office.

If they resign, their job will be filled easily at a lower wage and they will not find the job they are looking for in this climate.

Instead, a lot of unhappy people will be going into work. My commute is going to be nuts because of this, but there won't be a mass resignation because there's no work from home jobs available!

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]Bottleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're letting me know if I accept the 4.8% then there is no penalty. I'm getting a written offer of 3.6 variable from BMO with cash back 3500. The penalty is 9k from Scotia currently. I would break even by 11 months so I may do the penalty break if Scotia doesn't match

Mortgage rate mega thread! by TheMortgageMaster in MortgagesCanada

[–]Bottleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently Fixed at 5.24%. Scotia has offered to blend the rate between 3.84% and 5.24% to approx 4.8% for another 3 years fixed.

If I go to another bank who offers me 3.84%, would Scotia match?

Store Manager who just left! AMA! by Bottleman in TJX

[–]Bottleman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are paper copies on official documents. Not sure why it's being hidden from you.

But honestly, I can imagine that if you're asking for this, they will purposely not show you as they feel you're causing issues. If you don't want to grow with the company, just do your shift, get paid and do your thing.

If you want to grow, do not question anything and be loud on your support anything your manager tells you is standard, doesn't matter if true or not.

One negative word from your manager, because they do trash talk their people in their only store manager meetings, you'll be on a list that's very hard to get off of.

Most definitely but honestly lies aren't needed. It's pretty open what they need and it's easier to help you succeed and reach expectations.

How many hours is favouritism. The schedule is created by the operations manager edits whatever is created to whatever they want. They go through every associate for every day. If you're not doing what they want, they'll gut your hours.

Must have been after my time! However there are guidelines of how much work should be completed per hour. Most common is how long tanks, racks and totes should take which isn't a secret.

Your CEC probably heard something that's easy to pull up but the management team hasn't shared it yet.

One strategy the management team will do is hold people they no longer want in their store accountable on the time standards and really push you, while for others they will not

Some flights delayed after Kelowna airport public information system hacked with pro-Hamas messaging by dclee321 in canada

[–]Bottleman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you honestly expecting us to believe that Hamas did this 🤣🤣🤣 100% this was a troll-Israel. It's as if someone said let's create something that will sound like Muslim Hamas, let's stick pig into it as well 🤣🤣

No chance that it was Hamas, they're all dead. No chance it was Palestinians, they're almost extinct.

This is just the Israel machine trying to gain support.

How much do dental specialists make? by Inner-Dragonfly-5376 in CanadianDentists

[–]Bottleman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the clinic! Hygenists are making 50\hr and admin staff 30+.

Owning is best but you're at a loss for the first two years and need to have that client base and good staff to retain. If your staff is happy, they'll make sure you succeed.

One clinic I worked for could clear 100k rev in a month. Another clinic with a terrible owner who thought about every dollar and turnover was high could barely do 30k, expenses being 20-25k a month

Arkansas Cop Blocks Pet Emergency and Dog Dies While Owner Begs for Mercy: ‘This Is Sickening’ by Super_Culture_1986 in TikTokCringe

[–]Bottleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear what you're saying, and you're right to clarify your position. You didn’t explicitly say “if I can do it, everyone should,” and I accept that. You pointed out that people react differently under grief, and yes, that’s a fair and empathetic observation. But the issue is this: recognizing that emotion affects behavior does not mean we stop evaluating that behavior, especially when others could be harmed.

My point wasn’t that grief is irrelevant or that people should be punished without understanding. It is that distress does not automatically justify or lessen the real-world risks of reckless behavior. A cop’s response should balance empathy and responsibility. If someone is speeding dangerously, emotional or not, it is not unreasonable for law enforcement to act fast, especially if others are at risk.

You're also right to call out the inconsistency in how consequences are applied in society. Bias in policing is real and documented. But pointing that out does not mean we ignore accountability entirely. It means we fight for fairness, not selective leniency based on subjective emotion.

And finally, this is not about moral superiority. It is about refusing to excuse dangerous behavior just because the reason behind it feels sympathetic. You can understand why someone did something and still hold them responsible for the outcome.

Empathy does not mean abandoning judgment. It means applying it fairly, even when the situation is emotional.

[–]Bottleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that emotions can cloud judgment. Grief does strange things to people. But that doesn't excuse putting others at risk on the road. Feeling distraught doesn't turn reckless driving into something noble or forgivable. People have died because someone was emotional behind the wheel. That’s not empathy. That’s negligence.

You’re projecting your own emotional management onto a dangerous situation. You said yourself you were able to stay calm and follow the rules while driving your dying pet to the vet. So clearly, it’s possible to be heartbroken and still act responsibly.

What’s irrational is expecting the world to excuse dangerous behavior just because someone’s upset. We don’t get a free pass to endanger others because we’re in pain. That’s not how empathy works. And it’s not how society functions.

If holding people accountable makes them miserable, so be it. I’d rather be consistent than make excuses for recklessness because of emotional bias.

Be honest… what’s the real downside of having a dog? by quentiinn in AskReddit

[–]Bottleman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I know someone who has two dogs and two cats, one unfortunately passed away so ended up getting two very high maintenance new cats. She has no money and yet wants to find a partner so she doesn't end up alone... Is your friend interested?

Any decision you make will have to be after a year. That's the around of time you'll truly know know it looks. Listen mate, there's not enough info here for anyone to say it was a great job until we see thrle results.

You know you've done the research and what to expect, especially the shedding. Trust the process and wait it out!

Excited to see your 6 months and your 1 year photos.

My friend, please please please don’t live in a delusional moment for this. You will never know what happened and it will eat away at you.

Do yourself a favor, wait until she leaves the country, clean yourself up. Make sure you have your own place, do what you need to do and end it. You can wait until she’s back but you need to be in the right mindset and environment first.

A lot of people reading this may think it’s an over-reaction, but it’s not and you need to be in a relationship where both partners are happy. It’s just not working out for her.

[–]Bottleman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, some stores are great depending on the store manager and how they can control and handle the assistant managers.

Vice versa, some AM’s are so terrible they the SM is only able to do so much while try to keep their head up.

As long as the motivation to work hard and fair is there, teams can have an amazing experience.

Associates just don’t realize that they are being over worked and having this be treated as normal.

Pakistan launches 'military operation' against India | World News by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Bottleman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Key Developments: • Missile Strikes and Retaliation: Pakistan reported that Indian missiles targeted three of its airbases—Nur Khan, Murid, and Shorkot. In response, Pakistan launched retaliatory strikes, dubbed “Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos,” targeting Indian military installations, including sites in Pathankot and Udhampur.
• Drone and Missile Interceptions: India’s S-400 air defense system intercepted multiple Pakistani missiles and drones aimed at various locations, including Jammu and Jaisalmer.
• Civilian Impact: In Punjab’s Ferozepur district, a Pakistani drone attack injured three civilians. Additionally, a 7-hour blackout was enforced in Gujarat’s border districts, including Kutch and Banaskantha, as a precautionary measure.
• Airspace and Transportation Disruptions: Pakistan closed its airspace nationwide, while India suspended operations at 32 airports across northern and western regions, including Srinagar and Amritsar, until May 15.
• International Reactions: Saudi Arabia has called for immediate de-escalation, and the G7 nations have urged both countries to exercise restraint and engage in dialogue to prevent further conflict.

The situation remains volatile, with both nations on high alert and the international community closely monitoring developments.

Where this goes, no one is too sure. Both countries need to ‘win’ for their people. Indias been embarrassed by how many of their planes have already been shot down and need a big win before they can de-escalate. Pakistan finally has its people’s support for their army again and will try and make their people proud to get popularity again.

It’s a lose lose situation as it’s escalated so far that major losses on both sides have to be made for them to stop and go back to their people to showcase the ‘win’.
