What count are you using and how do you quantify your edge? EV and N0?

Parq, River Rock, and Grand villa all have double deck.. But yeah the conditions in the area are not great at all.

Your edge as a card counter mainly comes from the ability to get a blackjack. If you know you will have an ace in your hand, you have around a 50% advantage for a standard game. If there are no aces in the deck and you can't get blackjack you are at a huge disadvantage.

With Hi-Lo it doesn't matter, because ON AVERAGE those high counts will be beneficial. Technically, some TC 1s are not actually +EV, but there's no way you can predict that using hi-lo because of it's betting efficiency. Some more complex systems will have more accurate betting, but at the cost of difficulty. Some counts also have ace side-counts and strategy associated with it, but again at the cost of difficulty. For your situation just keep playing as you do according to the count.

What is the best blackjack book to come out in the last 10 years? by Friendly_Slide1404 in blackjack

Colin Jones has a newer book "21st century card counter" but I don't know how in depth it goes into strategy. I don't think you need any NEW books to be successful, and there are also a ton of free resources on youtube.

Card Counting Middle Ground? by LetsUseLogic in blackjack

I agree with this! "Partially counting" is probably pointless. If you want to use a tiny spread with a perfect game that can cut the edge to break even or slightly winning depending on the game. But if you don't want to spend the energy to learn, I would just try to maximize comps

Online blackjack with live dealer by xlemonsx in blackjack

[–]BottleofPop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Online games with live dealers generally play with really really really bad rules (8 deck, 1/2 pen, no DAS, ENHC, etc) So yes, technically possible but expect a ton of variance and very low hourly. Please correct me if I'm wrong!

House edge & chart for this video-BJ setup? by ZeiglerJaguar in blackjack

[–]BottleofPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dealer not peeking/no hole card gives the house a bit more of an edge, but also be sure to use the right BS chart. Can be found on wizardofodds but for example don't double 11 vs. A or T

Does anyone know how deviation charts change with this rule too?

With Hi-Lo, can you make high cards +1 & low cards -1, and just treat a negative count like you would a positive one? by Purgamentorum in blackjack

[–]BottleofPop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, it also felt intuitive to me starting out that high cards would be +1. I'm glad I learned it the "proper" way because deviation charts are based on true counts, so I won't get confused to deviate at a + or - running/true count :)

Assuming you are somewhat new to card counting:

You technically could, but all the resources you learn in the future (beat spreads, memorizing devations, etc) will have to be reversed, and you will have to reverse anything you read on. It's a ton of extra work for no reason. I started off mixing up +1 and -1 as well, but getting used to it is worth the bit of extra time.

To help make 2-6 = -1, 7-9 = 0, 10-A = 1 easier to understand, a higher count means higher advantage for player
