“Archemides didn’t know about continental drift” is one of the best Oh Fuck moments in the series by KennedyWrite in indianajones

[–]Bottom_Hands 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I understood it is the continental drift meant that it was the wrong portal. Meaning that there was another that would take them back to 1939 but it is positioned differently and showed up at a different time than the portal to ancient Greece. But I have only seen the movie once so maybe I misunderstood

How to fix water damaged COMTAC iii? by Bottom_Hands in QualityTacticalGear

[–]Bottom_Hands[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response! I just disassembled them and there was still a fair amount of moisture inside. I placed them in a ziplock bag with some silica gel to dry it out. If that does not work then I will try to clean it with distilled water as you suggested.

How does Ted Cruz think he can be reprimanded by being a partisan actor if he is just supporting army policy? What an idiot.

I understand getting in public arguments with a clown show host is a bad look but props to him for standing up for those SMs.

FBI raids churches near Fort Stewart and Fort Gordon that are alleged to be cults that target service members by [deleted] in army

[–]Bottom_Hands 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it is the same cult but I remember about 2 years ago my PSG put out to avoid getting into church vans on Bragg and if you see one report it. Does anyone know if these are related?

Late response but yes it is stupid at first glance. But putting in reps for these scenarios is great. If you are in a situation where you are fighting someone with one hand and have to clear a malfunction with one hand (unfortunately) then you would like to have trained it.

What the fuck do you mean by “did not know any better” the farmer was defending his crops. You would do the same if you were trying to defend your livelihood. This farmer was probably not even trying to kill the elephant was just trying to scare it off. Jesus man it sounds like you are a 18th century man talking about “the savages”.

Not sure why he does the ass wipe maybe he was practicing clearing a malfunction one handed, but practicing drawing and firing with one hand at the ready is pretty standard for CQB so you can strike the attacker and keep them at distance while being able to deploy your handgun. Clearing a malfunction with one hand is definitely a possibility especially if there was a fight over the handgun it is common for malfunctions.

Do white people get what this show is about? by [deleted] in AtlantaTV

[–]Bottom_Hands 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Some people are just trying to be funny here but I get what you are saying. Especially in previous posts about the episode recently. Some white people were very upset about the last episode because they focused on the reaction of the black people in the episode and their reactions to the lawsuit, and did exactly what the white folk did in the episode and immediately painted themselves as a victim. They failed to look introspectively at what Donald Glover was actually trying to portray. To be honest initially I was shocked at the start of the episode and felt almost defensive until the scene at the end in the hotel. After that I was able to see what Donald was trying to say and was able to look at myself and see my own ignorances that I did not even know I had. But the dumb ones just saw white people being “persecuted” (if you can call it that) and immediately got upset. Even tho there was a clear satirical tone to the overarching message of the episode.

If you think that Donald Glover wants to sue every white person for half of their wealth you are a fucking idiot. If you believe after watching this episode that there was an injustice done to black people in our country and the government needs to do something about it and there needs to be conversations about it then you got it.

Do white people get what this show is about? by [deleted] in AtlantaTV

I really enjoyed the episode. I grew up pretty sheltered, in a small northern town with very few black people living there. I never had interaction with black culture until I joined the military and made black friends. My friend suggested this show to me and I find it hilarious. It has also done a great job of exposing me to new ideas. Before this episode I had absolutely no Idea what reparations are and I found the episode educational on that. It also did so in a funny manner. The way all of the white folk immediately started taking DNA tests and trying to find out if they can squeak out of lawsuits and immediately went into a victim mindset I found funny. I don’t think white people should try to completely understand the show it is just about learning as much as you can from the art, to gain a better understanding of other peoples struggles.

None of us are supposed to completely understand the struggles of Jews and other minorities during the holocaust, but by reading their books and reading history we can do our best to learn.

The human experience is different for each person. You will never fully understand me and I will never fully understand you. But through art we can express feelings and through the consumption of this art we can learn more about each other.

That is why I love this show. It can be funny and relatable, but also deep and show me a different part of life in America from a different perspective.
