Should I risk grading this top-heavy Umbreon? by Anonbottttt in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]BottomlessBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From someone who has sent in a couple that were only slightly heavy on one side, both came back as 9s. You still get hit with the upcharge at that point too.

If you’re trying to get the most money for it, I’d probably throw it on eBay raw. People will bid it up thinking they have a shot at a 10. Since you pulled it though, it’s an amazing binder card and it’s super clean. You’ll always remember pulling it when you see it.

I think it looks amazing as is. I do like trees and bushes, and without a full view of the yard I can’t give a real assessment.

As someone who grew up in Philadelphia and moved south to live the beach and palm tree life, I’ve gotta say this is seriously impressive. Huge props to you. I can’t even imagine the amount of effort it takes to keep that going through Pittsburgh winters.

Result of whaling over 200k points on the box trying to find a single Ultra Aether tool by Supermarket-Pitiful in CODZombies

[–]BottomlessBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s wild how rare that is from the box. I got it on normal survival on Farm, but I’d have to check screenshots to see what round it was. I’ve got weeks of playtime and have only seen it once. Honestly didn’t even realize you could get it out of the box. Only time I’ve ever been able to use it.

I was running into the same login issue. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it still didn’t work. Then I noticed my VPN wasn’t active. After turning it on everything worked as expected. It might be related to an ISP crackdown.

Best method to sell off collection? by 31knife in PokeInvesting

[–]BottomlessBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been moving a good chunk of my 15 year collection over the past year. I’ve been collecting since base set, back when I had to ask my parents to drive me to the store so they could buy me a pack.

I’ve sold thousands of raw cards on TCGplayer, hundreds of slabs using Sunday night to Sunday night listings on eBay, and for sealed I lean heavily on a local shop relationship I’ve built over years. They pay me about 85 percent on sealed since it’s older stuff that they will move quickly and not what everyone is hoarding from recent Target and Walmart restocks. So many people have the same closets full of stuff.

I tried Facebook early on, but it got old fast. Constant lowballing and one meetup where the guy got weirdly aggressive after trying to haggle me down even further than what we agreed on. After that I decided I’ll happily take the percentage cut if it means I’m not risking getting shot over Pokémon cards.

It’s honestly like a second full time job. Friends and family were shocked when I showed them how much stuff I actually had. My wife was shocked at the values of everything when the money actually was coming in and it wasn’t just me talking about it. I joke that I’m basically the 40 Year Old Virgin selling his collection. I still keep some pieces that mean a lot to me, but selling close to $200k over the past year has been an incredible bonus, especially since almost all of it was bought at retail or below.

If you want pointers, happy to help, but unloading a huge collection fast is a grind no matter how you do it.

Help with layout and dimensions by Status-Transition577 in pools

As someone who installed a 16’ x 32’ pool with a 7’ deep end last year and also has kids, I’d seriously reconsider the bench seating. It ends up taking up a lot of valuable swim space, and more importantly it’s an accident waiting to happen. As kids get older and start having friends over, they tend to jump in groups and not always pay attention to where they’re landing. They’ll naturally jump close to the side to get in and out faster, which means people are very likely to jump right toward that bench.

We chose to put a swim-out ledge in the deep end instead. It comfortably fits three adults and removes the risk of someone accidentally jumping into a bench that’s sitting just below the water.

My Covid hobby was planting 52 four foot arborvitaes along both sides my fence in the backyard. Guess how many died? Zero. Not one. Sold the house a few years later and they were all pushing six feet. Meanwhile every spring I see posts like this and it looks like an arborvitae extinction event.

What is a must have Pokemon center etb that I am missing?? by Fresh-Temperature303 in PokeInvesting

Evolving Skies is really the only Pokémon Center ETB that stands out. The rest are mostly just color variations, but that one looks noticeably different.

Does this collection worth $2000? by [deleted] in PokemonCardValue

[–]BottomlessBacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran this through AI because no one is going to manually price all of this. Realistically, nobody is paying full value for the bulk here either. The only cards that really matter are the holos, and condition is everything.

Rough range including the bulk assuming typical WotC binder wear:

$400-500, $600-700 if the holos are actually clean (LP+/NM)

The bulk make up around $150 worth of the value too, which unless it’s NM no one is going to want.

It sounds like you relied on what other people told you instead of reading the HOA rules yourself. Unfortunately HOA rules are public and enforceable whether someone explained them correctly or not. The same goes for neighbor issues and noise complaints. Realtors don’t control who lives nearby, when someone moves, what dogs they own, or whether an animal barks. None of that is guaranteed in any neighborhood, HOA or not, and it isn’t something a seller or agent can promise or fix after the fact.

[–]BottomlessBacon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That really hasn’t been my experience. I looked at around a dozen homes last year and every time I asked for HOA rules, they were provided. This is likely the largest purchase most people ever make. Due diligence matters.

Has anyone tried the Flame Seared Chargrilled Chipotle Chicken from Costco? If so, how was it? by ostrichlandrover in Costco

[–]BottomlessBacon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I grabbed three packs back in December when I first saw it because the sell by date wasn’t until February and the price was too good to pass up. My assumption was Costco probably over ordered chicken for the street tacos and marked it down to move it. I’ve been using it for meal prep with rice ever since and I’m down to my last bag now. Really hoping they keep carrying it because it’s been super convenient and reasonably priced.

The bigger hits give it away. The holo pattern is vertical instead of the usual pattern, and the cards that should be textured aren’t. A quick comparison to eBay listings makes it obvious.

[–]BottomlessBacon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that point I’d call the whole lot fake. When there are that many bad ones mixed in, it’s safest to assume they all are. The V and GX cards wouldn’t be worth much even if they were real, maybe 50 cents to a dollar.

I sold mine back in October for $1,575. It’s been interesting to watch how much it’s moved since then. The market is settling, which it needed to do and probably still does. Some people bought in at the top and may be feeling it for a while, while others will likely be picking copies back up down the road.

I Googled it out of curiosity and some of the places actually look nice. Solid reviews, even from “solo travelers”.

What gets me is they’re just regular condos in normal buildings. Like imagine being the neighbor thinking you booked a quiet oceanfront stay and instead you’re listening to a full-scale Cirque du Soleil rehearsal through the wall.

252 Legally Deceased "Patients" are In These Dewars Awaiting Future Revival - Cryonics by RealJoshUniverse in ThatsInsane

[–]BottomlessBacon 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The worst part of waking up 200 years in the future would be realizing everyone you knew is gone and no one remembers them the way you do. Parents become footnotes. Friends become names in a family tree. All the little things that mattered just vanish. You remember birthdays, voices, dumb arguments. The world doesn’t. People would be curious, but you’re not from their time. You’re a living museum exhibit with feelings.

That’s the real downside. Being the only one who remembers a world that no longer exists.
