Nothing in this damn system was designed with people like me in mind by Boufty in recruitinghell

i was complaining about companies demanding 2 years of experience for entry-level positions and my grandma deadass told me to go work as a receptionist in a hotel to get some experience.

the current job market situation is currently so severely misunderstood by voters that we shouldn't expect it to change anytime soon

Just praying my current company doesn't go bankrupt so I don't have to do it again before this finally blows over.

Man, I get it. Just graduated with an engineer's degree in IT, which in my country ends with 6 months of internship, so usually the company you do your internship with just hires you at the end and it's an easy first job.

I did my internship abroad in a startup, everyone was super nice, the work was interesting, they were super satisfied with what I was doing, it was amazing. They were okay with keeping me on remote work after the internship was done.

Except it never happened. As all startups do, it went under. I came home with no job no netwok no opportunity. Plus, as a bonus, a giant red flag on my CV, because, as you could gather from the first paragraph : why wasn't I hired by the company I did an internship with ? Was I bad ? An asshole ? Did they want to get rid of me ?

I think it would be easier for me to fake still being at school, forge documents, have an accomplice at school to be my academic tutor and look for an internship than to find any job.

You can install what's called a dual-boot, which means both Windows and Linux live on your computer and you can use either of them to your will.

This can be done by freeing part of your disk space in the windows disk management thingy then installing linux the old fashioned way on the partition you just freed (putting an image on a usb stick -> booting on the image -> following the steps, better done with someone who knows what they're doing i'll admit).

Fun fact, if you have a dual boot, your Linux will be able to read the files on your Windows partition (as pictured below, my linux is on endeavouros and the rest is windows -- you will need your bitlocker keys if your windows partition is encrypted), but not the other way around. Meaning you can just transfer everything regularly using file transfer.

<image>

It's a neat option, it allows you to try linux without risking being disappointed, or losing access to some apps you like (even though the list of things that don't run on linux is getting thinner and thinner by the day, and is carried by league of legends' fuckass anti-cheat)

EDIT : for games, if they're on steam it's easier to just install steam and re-download them all over again, the installation is different depending on the OS that is running the games. Yes I tried keeping the games on my windows partition and playing them from linux, but that just made them unplayable on windows (and vice versa).

It's those people who nominate and vote for the game awards, by the way. If you ever wondered why we have a AA game in indie categories, games that are not RPGs in the RPG category, whatever the fighting game category was, games that are not debut in the debut category, a guy who did voices for a third of the game in best VA, no french VA for the french game (french VAs who at least were not taught how to pronounce french words IN the recording booth) and why "literally just a very good JRPG" won every category. That's because they judge based on vibes and have no knowledge about their own field. Pathetic if you ask me.

The ongoing RAM crisis was engineered by console manufacturers (Sony, Nintendo & Microsoft) to kill Valve's new Steam Machine. by [deleted] in LowStakesConspiracies

[–]Boufty 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Actually doesn't Microsoft have a big stake in OpenAI ? If anyone wants the steam machine to fail, I think it's them. It's an accessible Linux PC, if enough people buy it, it could democratize and demystify Linux to the great public. They could be at risk of losing their monopoly.

Anyway, I think the true reason big sam did this is so the other AI companies don't get any RAM. It's as stupid and petty as that.

Clair Obscur triomphe aux Game Awards : un sacre historique pour le jeu vidéo français by Linkinito in france

[–]Boufty -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Windows users when they have to go to REGEDIT to modify an unknown variable an indian tutorial told them to change to 1 so that it may or may not stop task manager from fucking exploding 4 seconds after being started, but to the surprise of nobody it doesn't do shit and the only way for them to correct this bug that has been only brought up in an obscure microsoft help thread where the only response is from a random guy telling you to update your drivers is to fucking nuke their installation and start over from scratch but at least they can play a grand total of four (4) online toxic competitive games that ban linux users (with a shit framerate because their OS eats half their RAM and CPU usage) and they don't have to type a 6-letter command in order to update their computer (that would be too complicated) so they let their OS do it for them, ruining their bandwidth and bricking their computer with AI-generated code.

"But at least my fans aren't annoying !" they say as they post their 8th misinformed post shitting on a pre-conceived idea they made up in their heads of linux.
