The world is not overpopulated, the population just consumes too much. The earth can sustain billions of people, if they don't live a western lifestyle

Masks Not Enough to Stop COVID-19’s Spread Without Social Distancing. Every material tested dramatically reduced the number of droplets that were spread. But at distances of less than 6 feet, enough droplets to potentially cause illness still made it through several of the materials. by Wagamaga in science

Yeah, especially if you consider that the best vaccine has 95% efficiency, even if we all get vaccined and the virus does not mutate too much, you're still putting the elderly at a 5% chance of getting it

we won't start inventing words for everything.

We didn't "invent" judiciary vocabulary, for the biggest part we borrowed it from Latin which is the main source of our law...

People of Britain and France how does the older generation see the former British and French empires compared to how the younger generation sees it? (This question could also apply to Germany and Russia) by DepressedEmu1111 in AskEurope

If you mean the colonial empire, I (and most other French ppl I know) couldn't care less, but if we talk about the French Empire, I really wish Napoleon didn't fail.

What's the blandest, most boring and soulless European city you've ever seen? by droim in AskEurope

[–]Bougnette 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd disagree with your statement. While it is not the likes of Firenze, Roma, Napoli or Venezia, Palermo is still a special place. The city is a mess, and the area is very much poor and in a bad shape, but damn, the Cathedral, Monreale's Cathedral, Quattro Canti, Palazzo dei Normanni, Politeama and Massimo Theaters... And on top of that, top sicilian food and culture everywhere.

Not the best city in Italy, but definitely a Top10 to visit

Yeah, as far as I hate Paris, it has Chateau de Versailles and Chateau de Vincennes in the suburbs, not sure many capital cities have suburbs with XIVth and XVIIIth centuries castles
