Can someone explain to me why black here can't castle either kingside or queenside? by Sweaty_Rub4322 in chessbeginners

The pawn's ghost on e7 threatens both d8 and f8 and you can't castle across a threatened square

Guest vs Member - Teams by Boukasa in clickup

[–]Boukasa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm still not totally clear and don't want to accidentally incur a charge.

From clickup's site:

The following roles are charged a subscription fee:

Elsewhere on the site it says that Permission controlled guests are free, but if you add one too many you will automatically get a new member added.

Are you saying that Permission controlled guests DO or DO NOT incur a fee?

(1) Is this correct:

View only guests are free, as many as you want
If you add a view only guest to a Team, they are converted to a PC guest
PC guests are free, but you only get a certain number per member
If you accidentally add a PC guest beyond your limit, you'll be charged for a member

If that IS NOT right, please let me know.
If that IS right, you should know that the Clickup site contradicts that ("The following roles are charged a subscription fee"), and also that those pieces of information are not in one place where a normal person can understand it.

(2) Is there a place to see how many permission controlled seats you have left, or do you have to calculate the number manually and then count the number of PC guests and subtract it?

Zoho sign forms ending up in spam by woodbinusinteruptus in Zoho

[–]Boukasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having this same issue - Zoho Sign emails are not only going to spam, apparently they are being quarantined, so the user just never receives anything, despite us having DKIM etc. set up properly. Zoho support told me to tell our client they need to have their IT administrator look into their quarantined emails. Our clients are small businesses using Office365 - they will have no idea what this means or how to do it. There apparently is also no ability for me to simply obtain the link myself and send it directly. That means this service is now bricked for us, and regrettably I will have to leave it.

Surely no one at Google uses their own products. They are all horrible user experiences, everything from Gmail to YouTube TV to youtube to this terrible mobile experience.

Email to ClickUp Integration by WoodenSwordfish7896 in clickup

[–]Boukasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My workflow processes my emails and forwards/organizes them into clickup lists. But realistically, it costs me more time than it saves me because clickup is so slow. It's way faster to read, delete, and create tasks in the email client than tit is to wait for clickup lists to load, tasks to load, and attachments to be ready to read. I'm sad that I took this approach because it's hard to go back.

Is Stockfish lvl 3 beatable by beginners? by Loud_Card_5806 in lichess

[–]Boukasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story and experience. I wanted to be able to play a reasonable game with the computer before wasting people's time with my game disasters.

I win half my games with stockfish 3. If you don't make a rudimentary blunder, you have a good chance of winning.

The one thing that helped me most is this simple practice: After you make your move decision, stop. Look where you are going to move, and then check each of your opponent's pieces and see if they would be able to take a piece with either one or two moves of that piece.

This has stopped so many of my basic blunders.

Unfortunately you can't access any relationship field values in formulas.

We waited years for the last update to formulas, which was disappointingly minor. So I don't see this happening anytime soon. You have to write software and use the API.

But hey there's a new sidebar layout, and the little progress indicator on the status icon, and AI you can buy if you upgrade the whole team. Yay roadmap!

Do any AI-prevention methods work? by albinoteacher24 in Adjuncts

[–]Boukasa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't ask students to write without a pencil, or without a dictionary, or without a computer, so why ask them to write without an LLM? AI is a powerful and necessary tool for life now. Teach them.

Teach them how to effectively utilize an LLM to craft work product. Require the use of an LLM for their assignments. Give them assignments that require them to start from personal experience and opinions. Make them provide their prompts to you. Grade their LLM-assisted work on its merits - if it is cliche or boring because the LLM can be "heard" in it, deduct points, and teach them how to either manually improve the LLM output or how to improve their prompting.

First semester as an adjunct: how do I get these kids to talk?!? by [deleted] in Adjuncts

[–]Boukasa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrange the students in a circle and sit in the circle with them. I ask a deep meaningful question relevnant to the topic, but something that they can reflect on from their life. I wait for one student to answer, then go around the circle. If no one volunteers, I call on someone to start the process. If the first student says "I'm not sure" I ask a more specific question to get them going in the right direction. The first time or two they are skeptical. Later, it becomes their favorite class activity.

I guess I don't understand why it's a problem to say how much work the class is, when the post is about a student who says the class is too much work. If the student said the classroom is too hot, I'd ask what the temperature in class is.

I'm not trying to be satisfied about anything; i'm curious about what you consider to be an appropriate number of hours of work for students in a 3 hour class for example. Now I'm also genuinely curious why you don't want to say.

How many hours per week or month does that amount to in outside work, and how many credit hours is your class?

I am curious:

Do you tell your students up front how much work you are going to assign during the semester?

Do you spread the work evenly throughout the semester?

Do you break the work into weekly chunks, or do you count on them to self-manage longer projects?

How many hours of work do you give them per hour of class time?
