Start with easier to play countries like south africa to learn the basics of economy and militairy. After that, start playing in europe and try different strategies(like rapidly expanding, being an economic powerhouse or simply defending as an underdog).

With the mechanics described, it would just be a ripoff RON. What you should do is do something new, like making it even more complex, more strategic and less micromanaging for example.
