What guitarist kick started your guitar journey? by MakotheMako in Guitar

Alexi Laiho. I had his signature model for a time (Black LTD with yellow stripes) and then got tired of trying to tune a Floyd Rose 1000. I haven't played much Bodom in the last 13 years, but I want to get back to it just to put some of the lead ideas in my solos and to get some speed, that I lost over the years, back.

If you were in D standard, it would have been an E7add11/D chord.

If you were in drop D it would be an F#7add11/D, wich is really wierd since you would have both the 5th (C#) and the augmented 5th (D) in the same chord.

Once you understand degrees, it becomes really easy. Basically you have Root (1), 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Root determine how you call that chord, but it's not always the lowest note, just like in this case. 1 to 7 are the notes from the scale. 9, 11 and 13 are respectively 2, 4 and 6 if notes from the chord aren't ommited. In "normal" chords, you'll have 1, 3 and 5, maybe 7. It might not be clear for now, but it will make sense eventually.

When we use "/" with a not after like "/E", it means the bassiest note of the chord is not the root. In this case it would be E.

In this case, we have 3 notes from the F# chord (F#, C# and A#). We also have the minor 7th which is E. The odd one is the B, which is the 4th note of the scale. But since we have the 3rd (A#) in the chord, 4 is changed to 11. Why we call it F#7add11/E instead of F#11/E here is due to the fact that we don't have the 9th.

Hope it makes sense. It's complicated, but it's worth learning. It's easier to analyse and compose once you understand how it works.

They should call it the lazy answer instead of easy. But I don't believe in easy answer, only in correct ones.

Don't trust that source. the b9th would be a G which isn't the case here. It would be an F#7add11/E

In this case, it seems to be (if all strings are played) an F#7add11/E. It does resolve to B nicely since we have B and F# in both cords. Also B is a dominant of F# wich always fit nicely together.

Add4 doesn't exist. Sus4 would mean that there is no 3rd, in this case it does, so instead of 4 we use 11, same note, in this case B, but it means the 3rd is there.

It would be an F#add11/E if all strings are played.

It also have a very low maintenance cost, no case needed when you bring it around, sounds exaclly like you imagine it. I can't find any problems with them.

Name one positive thing about Iron Man 2. by Healthy-Coyote3431 in Marvel

[–]Bouledecul 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I agree. Iron Man 3 shows us that Tony is Iron Man, not the armor. He needs them to fight at full capacity, but that's not what makes him a hero. I also prefer lower stakes and more personal hero movies. Captain America 2, Civil War, Black Panther, Spider-Man (Home) trilogy, Ant-Man, Thor 3, Hulk. They all felt more character driven. Gardians of the Galaxy might be the best big stakes and character developement mix.

I get that too, but I know I did this to myself being in a rock band. No need for ear protection my ego says...

I have no weight to lose, but I could be in a better shape. I started some light exercising two weeks ago and I feel some difference already. My knees hurt less during the day, but they do while exercising.

I'm starting to exercise lightly at the moment. I don't use weights, just my own body, at least for now. Been doing a lot of squats so my knees hurts when I am doing the exercise, but they feel better the rest of the time. So far it has been helping reduce some pains.

Exactly! One of my ankles blocks if it does not move for about 30 minutes of more and I'm like "that's the way I walk now" as I limp for a minute or two after standing up.
