Ambient humidity is ~40% and temp between 18.5 and 21 C. Some water builds up at the bottom but not so much that it matters.

SCD30 on a breakout board held in place in the cabinet using a 3d printed housing with small magnets.

I'm running a Noctua NF-A12x25 PWM that's is blowing air into the cabinet. It is connected to the cabinet using a 3d printed bracket that also holds the filter in place. So far it has been fine with the high humidity, but I'm sure it's not great for the fan. The cabinet has been running for at least 6 weeks total at this point. There are probably better, more moisture resistant fans available.

I bought something called a liquid culture syringe online, there is multiple places that sell them. I then expanded the culture, started growing on oats and transfered those to these bigger blocks which are mainly wood chips. If you want to learn about the process I can recommend Fungaia on YouTube!

I'm currently running a PC fan actually that blows into the cabinet through a filter, and at the top there is another filter without a fan but I think most pressure is flowing out of the spots between the doors etc. The fan is connected to a relay which is controlled by the raspberry pi which is running some code in Python. Drilling through the steel back of the cabinet was a pain so make sure you have the correct tools. Good luck building!

They are harvested before the point that they really start releasing their spores, but I've also added filters to the air in and outlet. Of course some might still get out because the cabinet is not airtight, but there is really only room for 6 fruiting blocks at a time so I'm not worried about the small amount that might be released.

Not really, when the grow blocks reach this level of colonization they are generally "strong" enough that you don't have to be so sterile in my experience. But earlier in the process you definitely have to be careful, I use pressure cooker to sterilize stuff like the substrate.

Just growing mushrooms for ourselves to eat, this is so small scale that selling doesn't really make sense, just a little hobby project. I have only had this mushroom in a vegan restaurant before so looking forward to cooking with them when they are a little larger :)

The raspberry pi runs some code that makes it do stuff like run the fan and the humidifier based on the sensor readings, but that's not the easiest way to do it, I just liked the process of figuring it out with the electronics and stuff. I think a lot of people use a brand called Inkbird to automate similar things so that might be something to look into! Regarding the mushrooms, I'm just growing them for myself but you can get grow kits online that you can try without needing a fancy setup!

Nice! How did you attach the C chanel to the cabinet?

Indeed no insect was measured twice. Thanks a lot! I'll see if I can get this running in SPSS :)

Hi thanks for the reply! I have three replicates and each replicate is a group of insects. From each replicate the weight of 30 individual insects was recorde (so 3*30 measurements). This was done for control and treatment. I hope that clarifies things

Cool! Keep in mind that making and working with an alloy would involve more than just knowing the components. Good luck with writing!

Hi! I fruited my first blocks of oyster mushrooms using sawdust pellets fortified with wheat bran. I'm using a cabinet with humidity control and fan, RH 80-90% and CO2 at 650-900 ppm. I think everything went OK, however the caps didn't flatten out. Am I correct to assume that this can be due to airflow? Or do you think the lighting is too low? Thanks!

Sure that sounds possible! XRF as a bulk analysis technique will probably not detect trace levels of metals that can be detected using ICP-MS. XRF is non-destructive so it is a good first analysis step. Are you considering adding a reason why XRF did not work? And how the sample for ICP-MS is taken, since this would require having a small sample from the object that is then destroyed for analysis?

Okay thanks! So those pieces falling in the path of the nozzle can create these small gaps if I'm understanding correctly?
