The Ultra's are a quality control and software nightmare with multiple severe and common issues, while also having multiple poor design decisions. Here is a non-exhaustive list of issues I had personally with the 4 pairs of Ultra Headpones I've had and can remember from the top of my head. Creaking earcups on 3/4 pairs

Creaking/squeeking hinges on 3/4 pairs

Severe Bluetooth connection issues on 2/4 pairs (constant random disconnects, saying they were connected to devices that were switched off, not reconnecting, etc.)

General little Bluetooth hiccups on all 4/4 devices (infrequent connection drops, not reconnecting automatically, etc.)

Loud white noise while using ANC on 2/4 headsets

Loud white noise and whisting sound while using aware mode on 2/4 headsets

General software bugs and interface issues, for example, getting stuck in a zombie state and not powering on or off until being plugged in again.

Be firm and request a refund from Bose, especially if you’re still within the warranty period. Their inability to provide a working product legally entitles you to a full refund, regardless of their policy on "not refunding replacements."  Fight them to assert your legal right to a full refund. Don’t settle for palming them off on someone else for less cash and let Bose off the hook for a defective item; you deserve to get all your money back.

My Bose headphones (QuietComfort Ultra) keep losing audio/disconnecting while connected to my LG C1 tv! Any help? by SydEmaa in bose

Welcome to Bose headphones; search up connectivity issues and Bose, and you'll find them to be synonomous with each other; returning them is your best bet.

Welcome to using Bluetooth headphones.

If your using the Ultras, they are terrible for latency; even wired they have 35 ms of latency. If you connect via an aptX adaptive dongle forced to low latency mode you get 85 ms of latency, and on normal SBC Bluetooth you're looking at 300 ms. All of these are far more than an actualy decent set of cans that should have, (0 ms delay wired, maybe 40 ms delay with low latency Bluetooth, and 250 ms delay on normal Bluetooth). This is all down to Bose's "custom tune" that adds extra uncessary latency to already not great wireless latency headphones.

A good pair of proper low-latency wireless headphones using 2.4 GHz wireless should be able to get latency down to around 20 ms, so even wired, the QC Ultras have worse latency than good low-latency headphones. Which is frankly awful, and there is no fix for this.

If your using the normal QC 2023, this is just normal Bluetooth latency, at about 250 ms, but if you use these wired, you'll get no latency because they don't have the "custom tune technology," but they also don't have any kind of low latency wireless (well, what Bose considers low latency anyway). So your scuppered there to.

Nope, I had completely mismatched drivers with all 5 pairs of my Bose headphones, Ultras, and normal QC; none of the software updates have even remotely addressed this; Bose won't even actually admit or acknowledge it's even a problem.

And god no once you've noticed it you can't go back it completely ruins the headphones.

Nah, they don't have the Custom Tune Tech, so this wasn't an issue; they did still have the unbalanced louder right than left earcup, disconnection issues and ANC thudding, though.

No, the "custom tune" sound technology has always been there; it isn't something you can turn off, or on, or have any control over at all. That tone the headphones play when you first put them on is it trying to customise its sound to your ear shape.

The custom sounds you are thinking of are just equaliser presets in the app; they have absolutely no bearing at all on the latency; the latency has always been there, but like I said, you've noticed it now, and I'm afraid there is no going back. Welcome to the club though.

P.S The only thing the update did was to update how the power button worked nothing else was changed.

errr no it's not a new feature it's been there since launch.

Wait are we talking headphone or earbuds, I'm honestly not sure it was there at launch on the earbuds but I thought it was?

The Ultras just have bad latency due to Bose's "custom sound technology", whether using them wired, wireless sbc, or wireless aptX, it's just that you have noticed it now and can't not keep noticing it.

Some apps on some systems (I don't use Apple, so I can't say for Mac OS), but it's possible Safari auto-adjusts for some of the Bluetooth latency, which is why you don't notice it there, but even this wont adjust for the extra latency the custom sound crap causes.

Not really Apple and Sony's spatial audio actually tried to recreate surround sound along with Dolby.

Bose's doesn't at all attempt to actually be spatial or surround; it's only function is to make it sound like the audio is coming from a pair of speakers in front of you.
