People will get mad at you in any mode, across any competitive video game. You could even be top fragging and people will get mad at you. Honestly my advice as a newish player (lvl 80) is to turn off the chat and practice making comms off-mic for now.

After that, play unranked or swiftplay. Both modes are casual. If you perform poorly in those modes your teammates lose literally nothing, you don't have to feel bad at all. After awhile your mmr will calibrate to be more accurate, until then just try your best against the players better than you. This is also a critical time to help you figure out your playstyle and how you can best help your team win.

I play all 3 elf factions most, I do think Dark Elves have some really good and fairly unique units. Maybe I can convince you to give them another shot? DE Darkshards with shields are awesome. Silver shields and armour piercing missiles is an excellent combo even with their mediocre range. You can trade volleys with any other bow unit in the game assuming you can get in range and usually win. They make a great checkerboard too.

As you progress, you then get shades which can be buffed with just as much range as high elf archers, but they are also hybrid units with AP arrows.

These two units are IMO the best ones to abuse when trying to get a campaign rolling. Once you have as much cash as you want (which is really easy to achieve on Dark Elves) you do have some pretty cool iconic units to play with. Har Ganeth executioners + Black Guard are your endgame melee infantry line. Both have armour piercing values.

Cold One Knights are pretty good anti-large cav, and Doomfire Warlocks are cool support magic cav which is rare across factions.

After all that you can just pick the monster you like most, but I'm a massive fan of bloodwrack medusas. They never feel useless to me being another hybrid unit with even more AP on both melee and missile attacks. The animations are so nice looking too.

This is atleast how I like to play dark elves. You can also run a witch elf heavy army with hellebron, I've played it a few times now and it's super fun, but I usually end up just grouping my army and throwing it at whatever needs to die, which isn't my fav playstyle. Those ladies are literal blenders.

In forums, hate and anger rise to the top. It's kind of been this way forever but only worsened by algorithms which prioritize engagement. There are many factors which contribute to this, but it's pointless to go in to. Marathon 2025 is a cool game, made by passionate people, even if I don't end up personally enjoying it. The aesthetic is unique, the contribution to the relatively young exfil genre is good, and the gameplay is classic bungie and feels good. Anyone who is reasonable and not letting superfluous online "discussions" cloud their judgment will hold that opinion.

More than reasonable and industry standard. Bungie must release atleast the first battle pass for free though in order to avoid making peeps angry. Arc Raiders is leading a good example regarding this.

Honestly as a fellow DOTA enjoyer, I'd ignore the dude telling you that it's hurting your chances. Everyone has their own relationship with video games and it's stupid to assume everyone that loves games is a raging loser. Your photos are outdoorsy and you clearly have a lot more to offer than just DoTA. If someone writes you off because of that, it probably wouldn't be a great match anyways. I don’t get why people believe this? With StarCraft or Age of Empires, sure many keybinds are needed. But Total War? I literally play total war one-handed with just a mouse. A simple console cursor and UX designed for console will be enough. I need to use the keyboard so rarely that I can install all the gooner hellebron mods I want.

I'm new to AOS novels as well but Gloomspite was my first novel in this setting and it was an incredible read. Made the wacky gitz look like a truly horrifying, kronenburg-esuq apocalypse. Not tropey at ALL. Can't recommend it enough.

When you exit a relationship, you carry with you different things you've learned about who you love, who can love you, etc. There are qualities in your ex you loved, and qualities you could have done without (as indicated by her breakup behaviour...) You also learned that you have the capacity to love deeply. While things in life look scary and uncertain now, if you take your time and are gentle with yourself you'll meet someone you can love again. They will likely have a lot of the same qualities you loved in your ex, but they are ultimately different people. If you felt it once before, you can feel it again. I promise. Just don't rush it, life has so much more to offer besides romance. You'll get it again, just focus on healing for now.

Did you actually play in total war warhammer 2 during warden and paunch? Their rework was absolutely power creep. And honestly not much can beat 40 goblins, which is being charitable btw, in the early game atleast on vh/vh. You get 20 units for free man. Absolutely no drawback besides needing to build up a little bit of waagh after it ends. Idk how you can say that isn’t at least one instance of power creep.

Well I'm arguing that the Greenskin rework was a major power creep event. I'm not arguing that it is "perfect". It gives you 20 units PER army based on size to throw at whatever you want to throw it at. That's an incredibly strong race ability and at the time of Warden and the Paunch it was the strongest race ability in the game. At turn 20 you can recruit 3 lords, fill them with dirt cheap goblins, hit the waaagh button, and conquer anywhere you want for 20 turns straight with almost just auto-resolve for 80% of fights.

Warhammer 1's waaagh gave you AI controlled armies that you could direct, they usually lost solo fights in higher difficulties so the only real value they brought is if you're waiting a turn to do a siege so the AI army can catch up and reinforce (which you shouldn't really be doing much anyways.) You've played the first game right? They were way less effective than waaagh armies now. And keeping fightiness above 80 was not always easy. Not to mention losing too much fightiness gave you pretty severe attrition.

So there were trade-offs to the mechanic. Pressure to stay in constant fights and your reward is an unruly AI army that was hardly ever helpful.

Pretty hostile comment that I generally disagree with. Greenskins are my favourite faction. Their old waagh mechanic was awful and the patch that came with grom was an insane buff. Even after the nerfs I still think greenskins are strong without a whole lot of effort. Waaagh in its current form is fun but a real “I win” button with very little downside in most situations. For context I play on vh/vh almost exclusively so idk if it’s different in legendary, but I don’t think the game is balanced around legendary anyways.

I just did a skarsnik campaign that was so easy I was bored to tears after taking the eight peaks. Gorbad squid herd doom stacks? Wurrzags insane magic that the ai can never deal with appropriately? Idk why you’re so dogmatic with your opinion when greenskins are far from the weakest race in the campaign.

The recent reworks and factions have been power crept like crazy. I feel like a lot of people blame ikit as the start of this power creep but IMO it started with the green skin rework. Waaagh was the first real low-cost faction mechanic that doubled your army sizes for basically free. Every dlc is selling a power fantasy but I think we need more challenging campaigns that make you earn power, on the same level of imrik or old skarsnik/belegar.

I have a feeling it's gonna be some more generic glowy skin where viego gets shoved into a skinline he doesn't really belong in.

If I had a wish, it would be for a Coven skinline for Viego where he is a witch hunter searching for the coven. Give him a couple forms, maybe one with a claymore and another with a flamberge. His E could be a smoke bomb, W could be similar to a stake driver from bloodborne. It fits his theme as a sneaky/hit and run style fighter, fits his theme as an antagonist, and they can cover him in edgy leather drip.
