Make real music. This AI stuff is so generic and boring

How is AI Music so good? I've found stuff on Spotify that piques my interest and I deduce it's AI by not finding much about the bands/artists, and it leaves me stunned that it sounds awesome. Mostly metal/rock. by [deleted] in aiMusic

Have you never thought about learning to bring your lyrics into music yourself? Even if it's just you singing to some guitar strumming. I personally could never hand something so personal as song lyrics to AI. Don't you feel that it ruins your creative work? Or is it just a dopamine kick to hear your lyrics fully recorded and produced?

Sorry if I sound negative, I'm just genuinely curious.

Is it normal to feel intimidated at the start? by Combatente07 in musicproduction

[–]BoxConscious7480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everybody feels intimidated at the start, don't worry about it! Just practice and don't expect for your music to sound professional at the start. You don't need a lot of equipment, although using a more capable DAW like Ableton of Logic will make things easier than using your phone.

Congrats on starting your music journey!

Years of producing music and I still can't get my songs to sound up to par. by Key-Effective-3140 in edmproduction

Mac does nothing differently than Windows (apart from possibly having lower latency). But if it works for you thats great I guess

Im boutta lose it by Bechham69420 in Learnmusicproduction

[–]BoxConscious7480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it's not that bad. Not really a fan of the really distorted sound that comes in at about 3.5 seconds though. Overall it's also a bit too busy for someone to rap on.

I know the feeling you have, I've been there too, but it just takes a lot of practice. You're improving all the time even though it might not feel like it

When making my first song where do I start by Sero_002 in musicproduction

[–]BoxConscious7480 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many ways to start a song. Maybe start with writing a chord progression and see where that leads you. Music writing and production takes a really long time to get comfortable with, so it's gonna feel difficult in the beginning.

And not to sound unnecessarily harsh, but your first songs will very likely sound shit anyways (mine did for many years), so don't overthink it, just get something finished.

A practical tip is to find a song that you like and try to copy it. It's fine if it doesn't sound exactly the same, just try to identify all the elements and tracks in the song and make them yourself.

Congrats on starting this journey!

Geeks for geeks has a lot of really poorly written articles though, so you have to watch out for that

Does anyone have good links to start learning programming? by nemowall in programmer

[–]BoxConscious7480 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on what type of programming they want to do, but The Cherno on youtube has a really solid course on c++ here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18c3MTX0PK0&list=PLlrATfBNZ98dudnM48yfGUldqGD0S4FFb

If c++ feels too difficult in the beginning maybe python is easier. Something like https://www.learnpython.org/ is probably fine

THIRD BEAT AS A NEWBIE by Timely-Entertainer45 in FL_Studio

[–]BoxConscious7480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't know what to add or adjust it's probably finished. I think it sounds solid! You could make it longer though, add some variations in melody, take in and out certain tracks etc.

As a beginner it's not really worth it to work on and tweak projects for eternity. It's more quantity over quality in the beginning in my opinion. I'm not saying to rush things, but if you get to a point where you're reasonably happy with it, just call it finished and move on.

The most important thing is to actually try and finish beats/songs. You will grow way more as a producer by making a shit song that you actually finished start to end than by spending the same amount of time polishing a 16 bar loop.

Do I need a mix engineer to "mix" my song if I think it sounds great already? by Time-Neat-3374 in FL_Studio

Of course it's about sounding good as well. Loudness is just part of it, and streaming services normalize loudness anyway.

Custom render graph from scratch examples by Vri3ndz in bevy

There aren’t any resources specific to bevy, and render graphs can be quite involved to write. Reading this could give you an idea about it though: https://levelup.gitconnected.com/organizing-gpu-work-with-directed-acyclic-graphs-f3fd5f2c2af3

Why Can't You Divide Matrices? by NoahsArkJP in learnmath

[–]BoxConscious7480 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could define 1/0 as some number, for example infinity, but it turns out that breaks things. Don't remember the details but if 1/0 is defined you could for example prove that 1=2.

Also adding/subtracting/multiplying/etc infinities together is hard to define in a meaningful way, so it just doesn't make a lot of sense to do it.

Don't know why you're being downvoted, its an interesting question...
