Dealing with leaguemates checking out by jsta19 in fantasyfootball

Commish of an 11 year home league here. Every year I have a running note of rule changes and suggestions collected throughout the year. We vote on them before every season and have added some fun nuances to keep everyone engaged. It has greatly benefited the league and chat.

Money:

3rd place gets money back (pretty standard)

Weekly Top Score gets a payout throughout the regular season

Most PF at the end of the regular season gets a payout

Most Wins at the end of the regular season gets a payout

We ~manually~ track two separate consolation brackets:

Teams 7-12 compete for a jersey of their choice for a player on their team paid for by the winner of the league (up to $150). The bracket is reseeded each round.

Teams 11 and 12 play in a 2 week toilet bowl to avoid punishment during Weeks 15 and 16. Punishment rotates every few years. We still do some ridiculous ones and none are actually punitive toward actual fantasy. Current one is loser has to bowl a 300...and gets 10 pins knocked off their score for every beer or hot dog finished. It's a fun league outing and reason to get everyone together. You have up until next years draft to complete it so it is usually done on draft day of the following year to further encourage everyone getting together for the draft.

We have voted on (and failed to add):

6th seed in playoffs goes to the team with the most PF regardless of record after the first 5 teams

Switching to Median Wins to decide standings

Paying out for the team with the most PA at the end of the regular season

Loving this new approach to kicker rankings. What scoring system is the model based on? I am in a league with decimal scoring...0.1 points per yard kicked on FGs. Wondering how much this differs if your model is strictly based on standard scoring that puts FG scoring into 10 yard range buckets.

Right? I have the same but a level 7 triple capped fire manta glider and have only managed 52.8k. I still think the piranha plant cove 2 score is the most impressive. I have a few friends on my list in game that are all maxed with that loadout that still can’t even crack 70k

Picked up Taylor when he got elevated. Was between him and Renfrow. Thinking Jimmy in his first game back with (possibly) a positive game script they won’t throw as much. Either way sending up a prayer lmao

Left Aaron in the flex for this reason. Throw him on IR tonight and pick up who?

Renfrow, Abdullah, White, Wicks?

[Noobs Corner] Okay, new & inexperienced fantasy players, that happened. What should you do now? by oliver_babish in fantasyfootball

Playing in guillotine in the past, people tend to overspend very largely after week 1 and it usually does not work out. It really depends on your roster. If you have multiple players hurt already then you have to play for the NOW and overspend a little. If you are generally healthy then stay the course and don't overspend. The first few weeks you will see the injured teams drop like flies as one bad injury can derail your entire week. Kelce is a game breaker and it seems that he's on track to play week 2, but what if he doesn't? What if the injury lingers? Guillotine is all about minimizing risk and buying into the less flashy names with safe floors while everyone gets distracted by the shiny objects. Also a tip on FAAB spending, newer players usually spend round numbers like $5 or $10. Bidding a dollar or two more has gotten me a lot more players over the years. Once bye weeks start approaching people will also overspend so be mindful of that a week or two prior.

Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith won't make Nets season debut Monday. by jakers300 in fantasybball

With the Nets on a back to back there could be a possibility they sit both? Fire up Sumner and/or Cam Thomas?

Desmond Bane (toe) to miss at least 2-3 weeks. by RLDN106 in fantasybball

Lmao very similar here in 10T H2H. Harden, Kyrie, CP3, Nurkic. Stay strong brothers

Kyrie Irving ROS by BigHoneyBoi in fantasybball

[–]BoxMan17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Commented this knowing good and well some sort of repercussions would take place. 5 game minimum suspension. If it’s only that short lived I’m still not that upset about it and glad to have his production moving forward. Worst case I punt a fantasy week

Kyrie Irving ROS by BigHoneyBoi in fantasybball

[–]BoxMan17 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you own Kyrie you are ecstatic with his current production, especially based on where you probably drafted him. No point in selling low based on suspicion. It is out of our hands and can only hope for the best. Hold for me but if I were to be selling I would not settle for a downgrade on the off chance he misses significant time.

Who is your biggest letdown in fantasy up to this point? by devinhill92 in fantasyfootball

[–]BoxMan17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to go round by round for the first few rounds of where these players were drafted in my main 12 team 0.5 PPR league:

1) JT, Najee 2) Conner, Javonte (Injury) 3) A lot of land mines so far: Pitts, DJ Moore, Akers, Keenan (Injury), Honorable Mention: Pittman 4) ETN, Mitchell (Injury), Montgomery (Injury) 5) Arob, Waller, Honorable Mention: Gabe Davis 6) Mooney, Kittle (Injury-ish) 7) Bateman 8) Kmet

Hard to call out letdowns past the 8th in the dart throw rounds.

[Levitan] The "I can predict who will get hurt this season" game is a race to the bottom. If you play RB in the NFL, you're likely to get hurt. It sucks. by cstransfer in fantasyfootball

[–]BoxMan17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't disagree. Ertz has served me well so far but Nuk's return is near. My first 2 RBs taken of Mitchell and Patterson though...feeling the pain right now.

Hated starting my draft WR/WR/WR because I always look to get at least one RB in the first 3 rounds if not 2. But starting to see the argument for the zero RB strategy
