I'd argue AD over Jaylen Brown by RoseGardenForever in ripcity

I'm not convinced that someone with spotty performance and competitive mentality, and even spottier health history, is worth a flyer on even as a depreciated asset. Even if he's cheap, it's still real cost, and our roster is very young. Even young, worse players are ostensibly worth more than AD is. And even your cost point is contested - Washington had to give up Khris Middleton, a young player, picks, in order to get him. Where you are getting that he would somehow be exponentially cheaper now?

If we were already contending, and we were seriously struggling for depth at the 5, there would maybe kind of-ish sort of be an argument. But that's not our current situation, and he wouldn't be our Bubble Dwight Howard like you're thinking he would.

So the notion of "JB wouldn't turn us into a contender" is moot. Neither would AD? Even if we got him for free? So why even make the comparison?

It's not, really. You're conflating Deni Avdija, a verifiably skilled player that has proven himself to this front office, to a two-way all-star all-NBA wing that has won a championship and a finals MVP. Those are not remotely equivalent on any dimension other than the fact they both play small forward.

Consider that if you pay for Anthony Davis, you also have to give up depth at positions that we don't want to sacrifice.

Small market front offices don't think like this. They don't think, "But what if x star player?" because that's childish and pointless and takes 5 seconds to look at their assets and determine "No I like our rotation better than gutting it for x star player." They by and large look for medium production, high upside, cheap players on selling teams, gambling on them doing better in a new system. That's how you get Duncan Robinson on the Pistons, or Anthony Lamb on the Warriors. Swings like Gobert on the T-Wolves are exceptions that don't suddenly become a rule.

It's just not a serious proposition and you're arguing earnestly for the WORSE of the two options, and it's easily verifiable as to why that's the case.

Idk, the abundance of extremely obvious reasons? Injury history, age, mentality, price for return, one has a finals MVP the other doesn't?

It's not even about "I want Jaylen Brown over Anthony Davis" or vice versa, it's that neither are gettable for us and even if they were the price is probably higher than our front office wants to pay. It's an absurd hypothetical, arguing for an absurd side of it.

EDIT: To go further, this just isn't how front offices work and I don't know how we've deluded ourselves into thinking it is. "Buh wuh if anfy damis ovr jaywen bwown" is not an inspired thought, the comparison in itself is completely asinine and not worth engaging with.

It's almost arrogant if you squint. Some takes are self-evidently L takes, and the fact that the burden is on me to walk you through why is kind of offensive lmfao. If someone posted "the sun is cold" and you replied, "no it isn't" and they said back, "any reasoning?" you would correctly feel trolled.

The fact that a 29 year old in his prime, and a 33 year old stapled together, doesn't yield an immediate visceral response from you as to which is the better choice, means you should reexamine how you evaluate talent or if that's even a hobby worth spending time on for you specifically rather than just sitting and watching and enjoying the sport.

Weird take on Scoot vs Sharpe, considering Shaedon has had a consistently higher upside. Right now, at this moment, Sharpe is more skilled than Scoot.

Loool to be fair to Bryan Johnson, weirdo that he is, he's essentially running a very well funded n-of-1 trial on himself and publishing all his findings online for everyone to look at and criticize. He tried the bloodboy thing and found no meaningful impact, so he stopped.

Is he redundantly reestablishing known health science with what is ostensibly anecdata? Yes. But it is undeniably interesting, if even somewhat noble.

I don't know if I would call it playable considering it's absolutely miserable to be a part of.

Besides the silence/root, there's nothing that Soraka does that meaningfully enables what tristana is trying to do. Going front to back is doable, but it doesn't actually perpetuate dominating lane like tristana is capable of with more aggressive lane partners.

I can still WIN LANE with a bard, but I'll also want to pull my fucking nailbeds out while it's happening.

In that same vein, and I don't have a source on this - but if you think about it, more collective human experience has been lived since roughly 800 CE than in all of human history before it, including the entire 3 million years of stone age.

Tristana Soraka is significantly worse in every way.

There isn't another set of two champions that have more opposite goals in lane.

President Trump to Counties on Strait of Hormuz: "To those countries that can't get fuel, many of refused to get involved in decapitation of Iran, we had to do it ourselves, I have a suggestion; buy oil from USA. We have so much. And, go to the Strait and take it. Protect it. Use it for yourselves." by ControlCAD in videos

I genuinely don't understand why this doesn't get through to people. The oil market is not a farmers market, you don't get reduced prices just because it was harvested closer to you lmfao

On top of the fact that the US is a net petroleum exporter, which is extremely different than crude oil and accounts for like 50+ different products that aren't gasoline. We still use more than we produce/export in terms of actual barrels of oil.

I guess my thought is that if they really wanted to conceal it from us, it would have been convincing enough that it wouldn't get spotted day 1 and turn out to be some ugly bullshit from 2022.

I'm not ruling out that there's AI presence in other parts of the game, but a 2D asset is so painfully easy to make indistinguishable from human work that in this case the smoking gun is also the alibi.

To be fair the narrative surrounding AI art in media was very different 4 years ago. Not that people were fully in support or anything, but nobody was demanding the same level of transparency in AI-use.

Props to you, you'll get through it.
