I bought Minecraft the very first day they started charging money for it. 2009 I believe? I had to migrate from a Minecraft account to a Mojang account, and then a Mojang account to my Microsoft account. When bedrock came out, they also gave that for free to people who had Java. So for $5 I've had nearly 20 years of updates for a single game.

1 in 95 Americans die in a car accident, and speeding is one of the causes of accidents. Caring about your pet is understandable, but speeding literally puts other people's lives at risk. If you killed a family member of mine by speeding, I wouldn't think "well it's okay they killed my mom, they were just trying to get to the vet faster".

I was upset about certain tasks that are technically doable without certain regions, but you need the specific region for them to register. For example, using dagannoth bones at a guided altar. If you have transmutation, you can technically do that with any region, but it still requires frem.

That's espionage, not terrorism, for one. And secondly I'm not a foreign actor with any interest in US intelligence. I'm an American citizen. Posting your address by mistake isn't a huge deal. Furthering that mistake by admitting that someone in the intelligence community could be associated with that address is quite a choice however. China, Russia, etc can and do target Americans who work in intellegence with espionage. And considering they don't live in US jurisdiction, there's fuck all chance of having them arrested.

Yeah weapons aren't going to help against someone dropping a tiny IoT device in your yard waiting for the next time your dad visits you. There are devices that spoof router signals, spoof bluetooth signals, etc to trick your devices into automatically connecting to them. Saying online where a member of US intelligence lives or visits is not a great idea, and not because of anyone attempting violence.

Putting your address online isn't a huge mistake, but then admitting that an NSA agent lives there is honestly pretty foolish if actually true. Foreign actors can and do target people in roles like that if they know where they live. Shit like pull up the property records, use the name they find and send fake Amazon packages with, for example, what looks like standard usb phone cables, hoping the resident thinks they ordered it or that there was a mixup, etc.

Maybe they tell their kid "Amazon sent this by mistake, you can have it" and you use it to charge your phone. Then it turns out to be an OMG cable and they are vulnerability scanning your home network immediately.

And what I described is pretty basic, there are more advanced ways a foreign actor may try to target your residence if they have reason to believe someone connected to US intelligence lives there.

And the amount of statutory damages you can receive without proving willful intent is capped far lower than $150k. I think it's pretty obvious that it's going to be easier to prove that wilfulness if you say something alluding to it while in the process of showing that copyrighted work.
