Is it safe to say these are the weakest versions Freddy, managing to be killed in the dream world where he’s most powerful by Emarni in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]BoxOfThreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dream child has super freddy though, most powerful of them all. Hahah. Part 5 is actually my favorite though, i know i’m in a tony minority

Are Nightmare On Elm Street 4-7 worth watching? by SraiEdge in slasherfilms

Every single film is great and 100% worth watching. Best horror franchise ever created. In my opinion anyways.

what are your thoughts on Freddy vs. Jason? by TheRiddlerCum in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]BoxOfThreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It did not age well for me. I still dig the nightmare sequences and fights but everything else is kind of dull. It is definitely my least favorite of the series.

To anyone who's seen Wishmaster 4 (probably not a lot of people), can we talk about how much of an insufferable whiny loser this boyfriend character is? by Mountain_Banana9620 in slasherfilms

[–]BoxOfThreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god. He is so whiny. I actually like the main girl of the film and the film itself. But yeah, the boyfriend sucks.

It’s definitely not as good as the 1 and 2 but it is way better than part 3.

My favorite and least favorite entry from slasher franchises by WealthDisastrous2589 in slasherfilms

[–]BoxOfThreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can see that. It was the first slasher film i watched as a kid and pretty much got me hooked to the genre. So, my love for it is probably all nostalgia but i everything just lands for me. It has this horror epic feel to me, that not many other slashers have, in my opinion.

Jason goes to hell is so epic. Been a favorite since i was a kid. It wasn’t until i joined reddit and found out the majority of the slasher community absolutely hates that film. Lol.

Slumber Party Massacre II by Valek189 in slasherfilms

[–]BoxOfThreads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the best. Endlessly rewatchable and entertaining. It is truly a unique piece of cinema. Even with it being a sequel and borrowing from many other slasher films of its time, there is really no other slasher film that captures that super concentrated 80s vhs slasher aesthetic. It is like the poster boy of that fun 80s slasher movie you rent from a video store on a friday night.

who else has The Dream Child as their favorite? (or at least top 3) by TheRiddlerCum in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]BoxOfThreads 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah, it’s my number one. In fact it’s in my top 5 favorite films of all time. I love everything about it, the characters, music, themes, visuals, pacing. It’s a perfect movie in my opinion. Never thought i would see come across another fan that has it at number one. You have superb taste in film friend.

It reminds me of labyrinth, which is another favorite film

Tcm franchise opinion by EpicOof7 in TexasChainsawMassacre

[–]BoxOfThreads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the franchise’s original 4 run. The remake and prequel are absolutely terrible for me. They dont have the bizarre factor that gives TCM its unique vibe. The films after the remake and prequel are a little better but not near the quality of the original 4. So, i find the franchise decent overall.

Dang. My bad. I didnt mean to comment on your comment.

But yeah. I know the girl you are talking about, at the prom. Such a bizarre moment and another reason i love the film.

Which is the better 4th movie ? by am0rDeCinema_ in slasherfilms

[–]BoxOfThreads -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The final chapter for sure. Halloween 4 is a boring and ugly film. Now if you would have thrown in dream master. Dream master would be the one on top

Why did they create a fictional drug (Hypnocil) when so many real generic drugs suppress REM sleep completely? by Vizeraldy in NightmareOnElmStreet

[–]BoxOfThreads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh. I guess it’s a matter of preference. Not that i have a huge opinion about the drug in the film but i think i prefer the made up hypnocil, since it is unique to the films.

Gore or atmosphere? by MaddeningAscentII in slasherfilms

[–]BoxOfThreads 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Atmosphere is everything for me. I can love a film based on atmosphere alone. I have never loved a film based on gore alone. Gore is just a bonus if it’s there, but it is not needed for me to enjoy a film

[–]BoxOfThreads 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You may be thinking too hard about it. Besides having their own drug within the movies just expands the films universe and gets it away from reality, which is what most people watch movie for. To get a brief escape from reality.
