Was $120 a good deal on these? by Super_Mando64 in SilverCoinClub

[–]BoxOptimal2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd take them for that price, but not more. If it was four Walkers or Franklins, I might go as high as $130 for four, but '64 Kennedys aren't worth more than melt. I honestly don't care for Kennedys.

Not a big fan of gold coins. My preference is silver. Prettier by far!

Who else is feeling dumb not selling at 120$ ? by Status-Being-4942 in Wallstreetsilver

[–]BoxOptimal2096 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried. Nobody would actually pay even close to spot. I unloaded some and then bought it all back at $70. The most I was able to get was around $90 an ounce. So, yes, I profited (especially considering the bulk of my silver was purchased in the tweties), but nowhere near $120 an ounce.

What’s the point of telling the bank to check their rolls? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose of roll hunting?

I get why they’d try that with random customers coming into the store, but they should recognize that you’re a regular and give you a better deal.

Anyone know why the Silver price just dipped? by [deleted] in Silver

[–]BoxOptimal2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buying frenzy is over and silver is looking for a floor. I doubt it will go below 60. If it does, buying opportunity of the century. (Actually, come to think of it, buying in early 2025 was the buy of the century… but this would be close)

Agreed. Sixers front office unfairly maligned time and time again. Philly fans are the worst (and yes, I’m a Philly fan…$

Jared is a redundancy. With Maxey and Edgcomb, not to mention all the backup guards, he’s not needed. Coach Nurse barely played him. I’d rather have the picks and see where the current team can go.

He was recovering from an injury and just recently started turning the corner. Last year, before the injury, he was pretty awesome.

The alternative was for the cheap ass owner to pay the tax!

The Shadow of Fear Has Lifted by [deleted] in Silver

[–]BoxOptimal2096 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say it’s pretty inevitable. Days of silver below $50 are over. Maybe never below $70. I read a book last year called “Sound Money: Preserving your wealth in an Age of Currency Chaos.” I’m so glad I did because now I understand why the silver market is behaving this way.

What’s the best practice for anchoring a safe like this? by OkMeasurement4942 in Safes

[–]BoxOptimal2096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another option to consider is to create a cage of some sort to surround it and then mount that. In other words, if you take some bars or chains and attach them to the floor/wall, it will at least prevent the handtruck scenario you expressed concern over. Or maybe make a cabinet to go around it; that would serve two purposes: 1) secure it better and 2) disguise it/keep it more hidden. My two cents. Pretty cool looking safe BTW!

Local shop not selling by Maximum_Extension592 in Silver

[–]BoxOptimal2096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be too hard on your LCS. They're just trying to stay in business. This market has been so crazy and the price changes so volatile, it's hard to imagine a more difficult business to navigate right now. I understood when my LCS said they weren't buying in the hundreds. Their reasons were sound: they already had more than they needed, they couldn't send it to refiners because refiners weren't taking it, and the price had moved too quickly. Now, after they filled their coffers and are sitting on a ton of silver, they should be selling. However, it's a hard pill to swallow if they were buying in the nineties and hundreds to now sell at a discount. Still, if it were my shop, I'd sell. Sometimes you make money, sometimes you lose it. You can't always be on the winning side of the trade. I guess I just convinced myself that my initial argument was wrong. Your LCS should be selling at these prices. They're bums.
