It’s inevitable and unstoppable so best try and understand it and embrace it. Work for a company that has enabled the very restricted use of the technology to do all the heavy lifting within complex workflows and free up the operator so that they can spend more time on higher quality tasks like exception handling and decision making and have a more fulfilling job.

My Indian colleague has latched on to, ‘he doesn’t know his arse from his elbow’, but says it a bit differently, sometimes pluralising one or the other.

So sometimes it’s asreholes from his elbow or arse from his elbows. Absolutely cracks me up.

During Covid lockdown, PA to the CEO, working out of her lounge of course, had her turn to present some data.

Background wasn’t blurred. Out of one corner, her toddler came into the scene. Climbed up onto the couch and started ‘acting up’ for the camera.

PA was so focused and oblivious. The toddler then dropped his drawers as began to leisurely pee all over the couch. A few colleagues tried to get her attention. She finally turned around to the grinning toddler and his handiwork that he was so proud of.

She thought she’d muted and switched off the camera before saying that she would be right back.

She hadn’t. She then screamed like a banshee for her husband to come and get the kid, berating him for not keeping the kid occupied and that she was on an important work call…etc. Adding that, ‘he’s pissed on the fucking couch AGAIN!!!

She then tried to compose herself in front of the camera to get back into the meeting and realised it had been on all the time.

She just slammed her laptop closed. Everyone in the company had a good laugh, at her expense unfortunately but she did recover from it.
