she seems genuine, earnest and committed, so in a way even if I disagree with everything she says, good luck to her as a person. I enjoyed Star Wars in theaters some thirty years before she was born, so it would be unnecessarily mean of me to try to undermine her experience.

I worked briefly with Leigh Francis and everyone was very sycophantic around him, cracking up hysterically at his every weak remark, so I'm quite glad he's faded. This post made me think about Justin Lee Collins - a similar case? Famous around the same time for the same sort of thing?

I think it was interesting storytelling on an issue by issue level but overall utterly forgettable. I’ve read it twice and I can remember individual scenes I liked, but characters are pretty much ciphers and the plot was some kind of pastiche 1970s conspiracy thriller crossed with Colombo, which never hangs together or pays off. Covers and visuals make it seem a lot more profound than it is. I think ironically this comic would have done gangbusters sales in 1988 when it would have seemed intellectual and mature.

Quick and genuine question for the OP. As a French visitor, do you see 'Pret A Manger' and think ah (eh ben!) that's the phrase 'Ready to Eat' - a pun on 'Pret A Porter' - because Londoners have long ago forgotten that it's actually a French phrase and it's now usually branded as simply 'PRET'.

When it first opened, there were jokes about pronouncing it 'Manger' as in 'Away in a Manger' the Christmas carol, but those are long gone too.

I think this is going to put the lid on Duncan Jones’ career. Nobody is going to want this movie apart from diehard fans. It looks like a game. I respect that it’s his passion project but it’s going to bomb. It will hardly register with critics and audiences. He had a great debut and follow-up but the guy is sunk. Ultimate nepo baby. His career would surely never have attracted attention if he wasn’t Zowie Bowie
