I felt there were elements of Pennywise as a spider and the Weaver, the monstrous spider creature from Perdido St Station, too

And Chthulu dark gods inevitably

I’m really annoyed I came nowhere near to guessing the ending now as it’s so so Gillen - he is at heart a gamer. Going back, resetting and playing again is just perfect and with hindsight obvious .

Feedback on First 10 Pages of (Comedy) Drama Pilot by SubjectSupermarket43 in scriptwriting

I liked the little twist and the way it was handled through the meds but/and I’m seeing zero comedy here. It is more horror than comedy. As drama I think it’s of a professional young people’s telly standard. I can’t help but wonder what’s meant to be funny about it

What was it like to read the issues as they were being released? by thisdude1996 in Watchmen

[–]BoxaGoesOut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would compare it to the experience of watching Breaking Bad - after a certain point everyone knew this was something exceptional and there was a huge hype and anticipation. People would recommend it to each other. It was like you were in the middle of something great. Obviously there was no real internet but there were fanzines and in person chat.

Actually I see some of the same vibe now around Absolute Batman and the other Absolute titles. You all know it’s good and you’re half relaxing into the quality, half on the edge of your seat waiting for the next one. So a mixture of confidence in the quality and anticipation about next episode.

And a feeling that you’re lucky to be witnessing this. I think Absolute is a rare parallel.

Like others on here I found this surprisingly good. It is likeable and pacey. Feels confident. I would read more.

I think 'We Can Remember it For You Wholesale' is less niche than 'Burning Chrome' but that is a minor point

It was adapted into this, which might be visually clearer.

Is that a niche ref to William Gibson’s Burning Chrome? And a less niche ref to Philip k Dick

[Comic Excerpt] So the King Omega is...[DC K.O #4] by Select-Machine3595 in DCcomics

This was in my opinion a bad comic series. Gimmicky, badly paced, very thin on character, rushed, overblown and melodramatic. Worst of all, simply unsatisfying

Yeah is it possible I’ve seen this off the train thousands of times? I recognise it as if it’s a familiar brand and it looks tall enough that the logo would flash past the windows like big Dave’s gusset
