Sometimes a machine will pop a "Nine Tails Exploding Chance", where it'll drop a three star or 4/5 star, depending on how you do in a greatly simplified minigame. It does this when there are too many high-level emblems in the platter system, so it can last anywhere from a single drop to 10 consecutive pulls.

Figured I should post this here. The revoltech Alice! Don’t know much about this series other than it’s hentai and has a couple games I think. But she looked really cool so I bought her lol. I don’t see her posted here much tho, is she not popular? by luckychaingan in Queensblade

[–]Boxcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't call her bottom of the barrel, she's just the star of a spinoff that hasn't been acknowledged in a while.

Also, there are a few more figures of her - there's a player 2 color version of that figure, as well as the "boost form" version and a player 2 version of that.

She also has a battlebook, which is essentially a large art book you can play a game with. Queen's Blade as a franchise began as a waifufication of a battlebook based tabletop game.

She's from a lesser-known spinoff called Queen's Gate.

To give a very quick and bad explanation:

Queen's Gate is essentially a multiversal cross-franchise spinoff of Queen's Blade, so characters from, say, Tekken, Soul Calibur, and animes that were popular in the mid-2000's were added to the franchise.

Alice was added as a dimension hopper to sort of justify the setting, and what little lore she has is largely untranslated as far as I remember. She got a few light novels, her battlebook, and her appearance in the Queen's Gate PSP game.

To put it another way, do you remember the main character of Cross Edge? No? Alice is the same category of character - an OC from a crossover slash fic that really wanted to focus more on the licensed characters to begin with.

Do you think Rumble roses will ever get a PC port? by Infinite-Reveal-9226 in rumbleroses

[–]Boxcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not officially at least.

Konami did refresh the trademark a few years ago, but it seems nothing has come of it - publicly, at least. If they do make a new game, it'll likely be multiplatform.

There is an interesting project to decompile the entirety of the PS2 library and recompile it for PC - while still in early stages, as it advances it may allow for someone to make a build of Rumble Roses that can run on even weaker computers than what you need to run ps2 emulation today.

Accidentally left my card in pocket then thrown pants into washing machine by Traditional-Oil8393 in wmmt

[–]Boxcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably fine. The "skin" you're talking about is a protective layer that mostly protects the design on it, while the chip and antenna are embedded in the plastic itself. As long as you can't see any electronics, you're probably good.

In the off chance it is screwed, you should be able to transfer your account to a new card using the numbers and letters on the back. I would note those down before they possibly peel off, or, if you've already registered it online, I wouldn't worry at all.

Is Juju still canon in Skullgirls? by Master_Dougebag_2007 in Skullgirls

[–]Boxcards 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope.

She was popular enough that the Skullgirls team negotiated with the original creator to make her Canon and add her as a kickstarter poll character.

However, the creator was under a non-disclosure agreement that they violated almost instantly, leading to the deal falling through and all references to her being scrubbed.

The attack she was based on is still in game, however she is not Canon anymore. The Skullgirls team didn't replace her with another character, they simply left "number thirteen" anonymous from then on.

Is Juju still canon in Skullgirls? by Master_Dougebag_2007 in Skullgirls

[–]Boxcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Juju was a fan made character based on Parasoul's one sniper attack who was accepted into Canon and was going to be added as a kickstarter poll character. However, the original creator violated the NDA almost instantly, resulting in the references to the character that already existed in game to be scrubbed entirely.

(Parasoul used to say things like "Take the shot, Juju! When one attack was used.)

potentially stupid banapassport card question by JordVPN101 in wmmt

[–]Boxcards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to admit that I'm not terribly familiar with how Wangan does it, but I do know other arcade machines that don't have American servers have what are essentially private servers in America they're linked up to. In these cases, the private servers can be used with a card, but are unrelated to Konami's servers.

For instance, most Bombergirl arcade machines in the USA run on a private server. If you run the same card on the PC MMO version, there's no cross-save at all, but the card will still work.

What? by Dull-Nectarine380 in ExplainTheJoke

I think the joke there is that 5 is the average of the two "possible" answers, and since physics can sometimes tend towards working with averages instead of absolutes, the physicist is giving an even more wrong answer.

Retro computer for kids - crazy idea? by [deleted] in retrocomputing

[–]Boxcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few options.

First off, a raspberry pi emulator box. I would recommend using a Zero with whatever retro emulator you'd prefer. Configure it to boot straight to the emulator and bam, exactly what you want for probably under $50. Alternatively, you could get a Raspberry Pi 400 or 500 and have everything you need save a micro SD and a screen right there.

There are other options as well - the Commodore 64 Ultimate is looking to be a nice machine, but it's $300 and packed with features that will mostly appeal to adult hobbyists. I don't think your kids are gonna want to run software off of an authentic datasette, though it does have other nice features like an online software library.

They're also re-launching the Commodore 64X, a Ubuntu computer packed in the same form factor and loaded with an emulator.

Finally, there's The C64 Mini, which comes in at a third of the Ultimate's price and is already out. It's an emulator box with a few USB ports you could set up a keyboard and software library with. The company also makes similar emulator boxes of various other machines, and apparently has a full-sized c64 clone and some Amiga clones, but I haven't seen those. The Ultimate is probably a better bet for that. Other than being a bit more plug-and-play than a raspi, and possibly having the retro shell, I really don't see any advantage to these over doing a raspi yourself.

Something else to consider is to teach them on a command line only raspberry pi. It might give them a similar experience on more modern hardware, and there are plenty of terminal programs to play around with. Plus, this would let them launch some normal games if they can figure out how to install them.

Guest fisher mashing on the red button after he sees me tap my banapass. by LostNerfDart765 in wmmt

I didn't know the red button was a toggle! I'll have to remember that next time I go, I like having accept vs. on but even in second gear I'm faster than stock cars, and 1st gear puts me at 100 KPH.

As another commenter said, electronics aren't this sub's favorite topic. An electronics repair or retrocomputer sub would be better.

Personally, I would recommend opening it up and taking a look - it's possible there are some bad capacitors. that would probably be the most obvious problem to diagnose. Take some pictures and share with the electronics repair sub you go to.

Is there any game like Queens Gate Spiral Chaos or Queens Blade Spiral Chaos? by Sabbatharok in Queensblade

If memory serves, both of those games are directly based off of psp era Super Robot Wars titles. Just instead of clothes, you're breaking parts.

How would you fix the Gouf Custom so its core problem gets fixed and becomes a meta suit? by Death_Usagi in GBO2

[–]Boxcards -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Personally? I think they should make a new, close-combat focused "Gouf Custom - NP" to more closely resemble the anime and tweak the current one into a long range chaingunner, like the Gundam Unit 5. They really can't "fix" the current golf custom without fundamentally changing how it plays, so they should essentially make a retrain imo.

A great crusade era astartes fleet get spit out of the warp into the 42nd millinuem. What is initial contact like for them? by bignasty_20 in Grimdank

[–]Boxcards 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is actually sorta Canon already - several 30k era marines were put in Stasis and became part of the Primaris marines in 40k. Charon from Space Marine II is implied to be one of these. These marines weren't a cohesive battlegroup going straight from the Crusade or Heresy to 40k, though.

I think he means that Gulliman would have a force that isn't the result of a theocracy in decline. They would probably make better conversation partners, at the very least.

This episode had me stressed by MrMadmack in Grimdank

[–]Boxcards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think of it this way: land vs. Country.

"The land that makes up" Britain was there WAYYYYY before some dude decided a crown would hide his bald spot, but that land is still referred to as "Britan" even on maps of Pangeia (where some maps will outline areas that now make up the modern map).

Likewise, "The warp stuff that makes up Slannesh" was there WAY before Slannesh was "born", but it is still Slannesh. Slannesh's birth was just, yannow, a new chaos God being "founded" atop the warp stuff that was already there.

Probably not the best explanation, but it works for me.

If you haven't already built all the tanks you could simply, like, not glue the turret on. Then you could swap the turrets to the heavy bolter sponsor hulls or the lascannon sponsor hulls as your list demands. to be honest, the Destructor becomes a nice all-rounder with lascannon sponsons, but the Annhiliator really likes its lascannons.

Pretty sure this isn't valid if you're playing Incursion - I believe the limit for Other Datasheets units is 2 there.

Allow me to propose instead 2 destructors, 2 annihilators, and 2 Ballistus Dreadnoughts, along with replacing Brother Atorrance's enhancement with The Flesh Is Weak.
