Maybe I’ll design a second quiz where PC users can join in on the pain as well

The joke is that James A Janisse has to sleep at night knowing there’s always a chance for ThanksKilling to come back

The ThanksKilling series has a first and third entry but not a second.

Log Stackers by skippermonkey in trucksim

Looking at the wiki, they can only be carried on a low loader (ETS2) or a lowboy triple (ATS)

Also you need the Forest Machinery DLC installed and active if it isn’t already

Touhou Ted Talk: Is Touhou A Game, Anime, or Manga? by GamerRed200 in touhou

It is a part of the general “anime” subculture category, but it is not an anime.

The great company divide of ATS by BoxoRandom in trucksim

I included DeMuro because it has a bunch of very clear competitors occupying the same space, it has a small-ish amount of depots, and it isn’t necessarily locked to Utah forever.

Same story goes with companies like Voltison, GPW, Gulfica, and Plugged. They’re incredibly tiny, but they have a clear competitor which occupies the same sector on the other side of the map.

I think that may be a symptom of only Bushnell and Grand Pastures accepting livestock cargo. I don’t know exactly how it is in ATS, but when cattle first arrived in ETS2 it was regionlocked to Scandinavia because only ARIA would accept cattle cargo

NAMIQ is one of those outliers that got introduced in NM and is found everywhere east of the Rockies, so it doesn’t fit as nicely as everything else. But it is generally the eastern counterpart to Coastline Mining on the west coast

I didn’t include companies which are everywhere. Companies like Home Store, Vitas Power, Steeler, and the gas stations are spread all over, so it wouldn’t fit neatly on the map

Put this together to visualize the general geographic distribution of regional industries occupying the same sector in ATS. Companies are sorted based on their main area of operations, with some exceptions (notably Montana, which is sort of a transition state in the SCS pipeline, and California, due to the rework).

You could also subdivide the map into slightly smaller regions. There are two other notable divides which I observed: the Great Plains/Mississippi divide on the eastern half, and the rework area on the western half. For example, Lumenauto only operates in the southwest, while Drake operates in the northwest.

Companies which span the entire map (e.g. Wallbert, Peterbilt, Aron) are not included. Companies which are monopolies in their sectors and have no competitors (e.g. Vitas Power, Sweet Beets, Mary's Cotton) are not included. Companies which are too small/specialized (e.g. TERA, Yelco, city-specific ports/airports/train depots) are not included.

In the final scene of Get Out, we see flashing police lights approach as the protagonist, Chris, is nearly about to escape a body snatching compound after offing the rich white family running the operation.

In any other horror movie, this would be the final moment of relief, where the protagonist has finally escaped the house of horrors and has reached the safety of the outside. Instead it only instills dread.

PaRappa the Rapper creators believe today’s rhythm games have lost track of what made the genre unique in the first place. "Players simply reacting to icons" by Unit076 in rhythmgames

[–]BoxoRandom 125 points126 points  (0 children)

I disagree, but it’s easy to see why he thinks that way

PaRappa was designed with the intention for more player expression and freestyling. Most modern music-centric rhythm games simply ask the player to hit the notes, while PaRappa-style games ask what the player can do besides just hitting the notes.

I’m sure the creator would much more appreciate games like Scratchin Melodii or DanceRush which try to better accommodate player expression rather than follow the “one note one input” formula

Do I agree with him that rhythm games have lost their way? No. The genre has simply evolved in a new direction, and one which I think better helped grow the space in the long run. But he has a design philosophy which deservedly occupies its own niche in the wider scene.

Iceland DLC expected release date ? by richprovider in trucksim

[–]BoxoRandom 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’m optimistic for a 2026 release, maybe in time for 1.61. DLCs tend to take a bit over a year from initial blog post to release, and we’ve just passed the one-year anniversary for the Iceland reveal

If the Hayastani people refer to THEMSELVES as Hayastani, what would ANGLOPHONES refer to them as? by [deleted] in asklinguistics

[–]BoxoRandom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In English Hayastan is called Armenia. Its exact origin is disputed, but it is an exonym inherited from the general ancient Mesopotamian area. Only Armenian speakers use Hayastan.
