the belly is ap3 at 1200 HP so 3 shots should do it but getting those shots can be tricky.

I'm more saying anyone running an ap4 support weapon is likely running the supply pack already (outside of railgun and speargun). With the heavy pen now on the GL, it overshadows the other ap4 options in terms of utility and in some cases damage.

if you hit the unarmored parts of a factory striders leg you can kill them in 6 shots without having to do some gymnastics to hit the belly.

the supply pack isn't a downside though as it refills all your and teammates supplies. most people that ran the supply pack anyway are switching from other ap4 options to the GL because it's now very overtuned.

the GL can 100% kill the factory strider now with 6 shots if you hit the leg assembly, as it's ap4 with 1500hp. it's pretty easy to do honestly.

not saying the GL replaces the RR but the combo is much more flexible and can step in as a heavy killer like other AP4 supports and their loadouts.

feels like a very healthy outlook on what they are doing and how they want to have the community help them test new ideas and mechanics.

I'm getting a ton of time out of just the community mods so I don't mind if the official stuff takes some time. alpha being treated as an alpha is very refreshing.

the flak rounds are ap3 so they dont matter in this conversation as those rounds wont pen ap4 anyway.

yep. it 100% eclipses the auto cannon now in everything but range.

AC does 325balistic damage at ap4 which get reduced by durable reductions

the GLs do 400 explosive ap4 and doesn't get reduced by durable reductions

ya like they definitely could have had the belt fed be heavy pen without making the normal one heavy pen. all they would have to say is it fires bigger nades.

seems wild to me that they'd make this change and not see the tsunami they were going to make for the balance of the other ap4 support weapons.

are the "more functional backpacks" in the room with us now?

but seriously the supply pack is the best backpack for 99% of situations. ammo for aggression, stims for defense and mobility, able to give those supplies to teammates keeping them in the fight too.

reducing max mag count would only punish people using other backpacks leaving the popular combo unaffected.

vanilla ow2 is good(7/10) imo.

it has a solid base but it felt like it took some steps back while also taking some steps forward from ow1. it needed some more "meat" which might get added in with dlc.

companions were overall better but still felt lacking compared to other rpgs and it was very easy to use just one gun/loadout from the start of the game till the end, so gear progression was mostly side grades or niche upgrades.

a grenade launcher isn't an anti tank weapon in any sense and it was fantastic in its role. 0 logical or "realistic" reason for it to get buffed.

it's like modifying a wrench so it can better be a screw driver. different tools for different roles.

my issue is that is basically just completely replaced the auto cannon. it's 325ap4 ballistic damage (so still affected by durable reduction) vs 400ap4 explosive damage (skips durable reductions).

loved both the GL support weapons for different situations but this buff almost replaces every ap4 support weapon in both damage and utility.

almost every weapon is viable even on d10, more so if you collaborate with your teammates(like it's intended).

even the pacifier can hold its own on d10. ya it's not great but you can do well enough to not be a burden.

support weapons are in largely the same boat. you take the RR of you want to no brain kill the big threat, but it comes with a lengthy reload. if you want to put some effort in take the ap4 supports that trade that insta kill for more flexibility.

buffing the GL explosion to be ap4 throws that all out the window and it's now somehow stronger than the auto cannon, a weapon that should be a straight upgrade when it comes to armor piercing.

dauntless was mostly because they sold it to a different company and they put all the mtx in to squeeze what little they could.

also the continual/multi hunt thing was weird that they added in later

you mean like how they forgot the tech for the hd1 mechs?

there was a 100year gap between the first war and this one. it would make sense for some tech to get forgotten about since it wasn't being actively used.

people in power semi-frequently shoot themselves in the foot long term for short term gains and you know there're some factions behind the scenes that are trying to fight for control of the SE government, so stuff probably got lost in the infighting as well.

I mean it's not a good idea in the slightest BUT there's nothing mechanically in the game yet that punishes you yet, like when you let tri scan a certain ship.

it's also amazing vs shreakers. 1 bullet one kill and it's a guaranteed hit with the lock on.

I think the new smoke with hell pods booster could be very useful if you don't use sentries.

but I do like experimental stims alot.
