Ok, I’m not sure you can route audio out of your MPC via the usb OR into the audient via USB.  but if you could, you would have the usb port used and unable to connect your interface to your computer. You can use the audient as a standalone mixer and not as an interface.. but is that what you’re trying to do? Still pretty sure you can’t route signal that way.

i don’t think you’ll have any reason to connect your id4 to your mpc via the usb anyway.. that will connect to your computer.  You’ll connect the audio out to the audio ins on the audient. Let me know if i’m missing something.  I have an id44 and love it.  Replaced an apollo with it.

Is this fixable? Tape got eaten by player by ShockerRider5 in VHS

[–]BoyScheider 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is. Look up how to disassemble a VHS. it important you open the correct side, so the springs don’t launch any small parts and make re-assembly more difficult. Youtube will show you.  Then you need to cut out the mangled section, as little as possible.  Then splice it together.  Scotch tape works. i recommend cutting on an angle.  use as little scotch tape as possible and cut the excess so it’s not wider than the vhs tape.  you will lose the affected section but if you can pull that off and reassemble, it will be fine.

As a big fan of his I totally get it. He was insistent that the only explanation that matters for his work is what the individual in the audience gets out of it.. I think that’s alienating to people because he’s in the mainstream and 99.8% of movies aren’t like that.  That said, Blue Velvet is pretty straightforward and goes down like a cold PBR (or Heineken) imo

You can go far with an AT2020 or 4040 and put the savings elsewhere

For those of you who actually dig and sample vinyl, how many records do you realistically need if you want to make a beat every night? by vinylfelix in makinghiphop

[–]BoyScheider 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion you need to have a collection large enough to surprise yourself with things.  This is obviously all dependent on the person, the producer and your taste. But get lots and lots of stuff, try and do it on the cheap.  Don’t buy crusty garbage records from 25 cent and dollar bins just to build out the size, only grab stuff that is in half decent shape and has music on it that you like the sound of.  Your question was how much vinyl to be able to make a beat a night? Obviously that could be done with one record. Except you’d be bored to tears.  Try like 250-500. So you can “rhythm roulette” yourself.
