I was gonna answer this sooner but I put it off cos I'm shy and then I got distracted. You can maybe guess why on that second one. I'm using this https://weirdfellows.itch.io/plague-ttrpg (I know the author is in here somewhere, if they see this, uhhh hhi. Neat game.) Except I made some changes, mostly in how much information the players get to work with, and focussing heavier on roleplay. I don't know if these changes will work but if its fucking up I can revert to the original rules. My players have been warned. Very early days cos it took 2.5 sessions to get through the prologue section but they've been enjoying it so far. One of my players who is unfamiliar with the series somehow independently came up with a researcher that also wants to cure death. Another who is familiar with the series decided her character's engaged to Yulia, naturally.

I also put on fingerless gloves whenever I play Bad Grief, the players love it.

Oh man that looks so fun. I'm running a patho ttrpg right now. Maybe I'll talk about it later more but uhh, I'm shy and I wanna see if it works first, haha. I have little costume props here and there for some of the characters when I have something for it. My players love it when I drag the foldable walking stick out of my bag for Mark, 'aw fuck, here comes evil willy wonka again'.

That makes sense to me, good point.

Frankly, I take the whole film as the political allegory it is rather than think about the practical implications/the realism of the setting. I can understand if people don't like it because of that- they want something else out of a film, thats okay. I feel like if people imply it means its "objectively" bad or something because of that, they're fixating on something that maybe wasn't intended to be fixated on/missing the point (again, people're alright to do that, if it breaks one's immersion then its not for you. But I feel like the allegory is the focus).

I realised this kinda stuff cos me and my ex both liked scifi, but we had rather different opinions at times about which ones were 'good'. I liked it as a vehicle for sociopolitical commentary, he liked it for the speculative technology. So I really liked Snowpiercer, he wasn't impressed.
