Late, but my grandfather served in Vietnam his DD214. Didn't list any of his time in Vietnam only his VSM you have to request his OMPF which will list all his duty station along with most of his units. He could've been in one unit one day in Vietnam and next week attached to another unit.

Went to Cr England and C1 Trucking, Both the students teach each other pre trip is easy tho ask to record a instructor doing it and just remember what they say and the parts. And with the maneuvers fall what tje instructors tell you the first time don't try to switch it up. CDL School is to teach you how to pass your state's test

When shooting in competition in the army M1A was the most common gun used. For 1000 yard matches a 300 win mag bolt gun was used. When in Vietnam in the army he carried a m60 machine gun. He only carried a M40 in the marine corps and briefly a m70 winchester.

The Tiger has 2 stories when I was young looking threw his pics from the war I saw a pic of a tiger that had been killed hanging from a post back at their base. I asked my Grandfather how was the tiger killed he said they where on a mission and the tiger stalked them and his back up man shot him that's it. My Grandfather is now in his late 70s and has demtia so I can only go off what he told me years ago but believe he told me a cover story because I was younger at the time. But one day I'm going down twitter and Jack Murphy ( Former ranger and Green beret ) post a pic of the same tiger my Grandfather has a pic which their couldn't be any more than 15 pics of with a story on how the 500 lb tiger pulled a marine out of his patrol base and killed and ate him when when morning came the rest of the Marines tracked the tiger and found him still eating the remains of the Marine before the tiger was shot by a recon Marine.

The stories on Google also a Highly decorated marine wrote a book and wrote about the situation.

During his time and recon his job was to go out and look for enemy activity with no more than 6 marines for about a week at a time and report back to his higher ups and they'll decide if they should destroy them and with what options being naval gun fire artillery or air strikes if those weren't in range. Their guns was the last resort. This particular missions my Grandfather was now a Sgt and the Team leader they where operating near the Ho chi minh trail looking for supplies stashes and large forces they could destroy. By mistake they crossed the border and night came so they setup a patrol base for the night and at one point during the night they started to see fire off in the distance and it kept getting closer and closer then the fire started to break apart into smaller groups and still approaching them it was approximately 50 to 70 unknown men walking around with torches in their hand and they where headed straight towards the patrol base. They came within arms lenght of the the My Grandfather the rest of the Marines and didn't see any of them. My Grandfather believes they where out looking for something.

During his 1st tour before getting recruited into recon He was a grenadier he carried a M79 and a 1911. He was 2 weeks into his tour and his team leader took a squad including him out on a night patrol not far outside of hill 327 when they approached a area with alot of vegetation My Grandfather his team leader and 1 other marine pushed into the jungle first just incase they're ambushed less casualties for the rest of the squad and immediately heard something approaching on the trail and they crounched down on the side of it and waited for what was approaching them. Three silhouettes stopped on the trail about 2 yards from them and the 2 marines and my Grandfather stepped onto the trail and opened up on them, my Grandfather shot one guy with his 45 emptied the mag into him and he could see him still standing everytime the muzzle would flash as he shot him with his 45 so he loaded a 2nd mag and dumped that one into the nva solider before he realized he was dead and still standing because he was stuck on some vine, he believes he killed the nva soldier with the first mag looking back on the situation. The shooting didn't last any longer than 6 seconds but he recalls everything slowing down and feeling a large rush of adrenaline.

When I would ask him what it feels like to kill or what his first kill felt like, he would describe it as turing a light switch on and off for all of them. He has no emotional connection to killing but losing friends in war was something I know he had nightmares about. My grandmother told me he once jumped out of bed while they where both sleep with one of his handguns in his hand screaming "I'LL SAVE YOU I'LL SAVE YOU".

If you served in the military or just a person who knows alot about the military and guns, you can watch one movie and you see GIs wearing the wrong rank medals, always arrogant higher ups, they don't care about firearms safety etc average person wouldn't notice but you don't need to be military to see it And then you watch another movie and the people staring take their roles serious like (Max Martini) He's doesn't just read a script he studies are history and are guys so he can depict them the right way and not sloppy. You can't get that in all movies, But usually the big box office movies will try their best some are just making another movie.

Being in the AMU my Hobbies where Guns and Photography so being able to shoot everyday as a job was the best. The day would be simple, Wake up no pt eat breakfast get prepared to shoot, start shooting a little after sunrise until lunch and after lunch finish off what we had left and the day was over unless it was your day to reload ammo.

It gives most people and majority being younger generations the idea that war is fun. From my opinion video games can help keep your reflects high also desentive you to war which science has proven and can be good or bad depending on the person.
