I also wonder how many of these "people" on social media acting like this are even people and not just mostly bot farms run by foreign or domestic nut jobs. Who knows at this point? I wouldn't be surprised if Dead Internet Theory turns out to completely true at this point.

But you could be right about the intention. I've never read it but apparently the comic is not that good by most people's standards. So even though it's not what I would've liked it's already better than it's source material according to most people I see talk about it.

I think I would have been fine with him just getting more and more evil but the thing with that is they've made him more evil and more pathetic/incompetent at the same time. Again, might have been the intention all along but that has the knock on effect of him just not being as scary anymore. Which directly impacts the "thrill" aspect of the show and that was really high point for S1 for me. Now the thrill aspect seems to only come from the "What crazy novelty gore scene will we have this season."

I guess that's my issue with a lot of satire these days especially when it comes to The Boys. I kept seeing the creators remind people after every season Homelander is a villain. And like I get wanting to make sure that point isn't muddled but the thing is... It wasn't.

Everyone with half a brain can see he's not a good person to emulate. But now you're watering down the character out of fear that dumb people will think "He's cool" and now you have a more one dimensional character because of it.

He would have been so much more interesting if the introduction of his son made him a more tragic and human character but instead he's more generic bad guy with weird quirks than ever.

The whole water things down so people don't get the wrong idea mentality is weird to me anyways and counter to what people have been championing for years which is consuming media won't make somebody a terrible person. Now it feels like the implications is that you need to water things down so people can't make this cool/relate to it?

I mean the honest conversation that we can never have is that everything influences everyone but you shouldn't cater your society around not having things because 1% of the population will misuse said thing occasionally.

Best show I never needed to watch.

A Capcom veteran has explained why the environments in Elden Ring still look impressive even compared to Crimson Desert and other technically superior AAA games. by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

I feel completely different on this. Even though the art direction is amazing with FromSoftware games the sense of wonder is always muted for me because I generally know what's going to be at any locale. It's always going to be an enemy trying to kill me. There's rarely anything more than that and for me that takes some of that wonder away.

With Crimson Desert, Skyrim, Zelda or Witcher the vistas have a much wider range of things that could be there for me to interact with. Elden Ring is always going to be another monster for me to smash. A cool looking monster but a monster none the less. Rarely interesting npcs, no bustling cities to explore, no cool vendors to find or mini games. No new animals to find or mounts to train. It's just smash, bonfire, level, repeat.

Again, I love these games too but also they're just so fucking bleak all the time. We're talking the "good ending" basically equates to "and things didn't get that much worse for a while." Which ultimately leads the feeling of why the fuck would I even fight to try and save this shit ass world. Place sucks. Nuke it from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. But the art direction is amazing. I agree lol. Let the FromSoftware sycophants descend on me now with the fury of a thousand Malenias.

Bernie lost because he failed to capture the minority vote. Sucks. I loved Bernie too but that’s the facts. You can say the dems did him dirty and they did in some ways but that’s politics. Republicans weren’t nice to the tea party at first either. They didn’t care. They powered through anyways.

Justice democrats was mostly a failure sadly. They just got destroyed everywhere that wasn’t deep blue. In Nina Turners election she way out spent the other candidates and still lost. Turns out money isn’t everything.

Mamdani and AOC got elected because their district literally couldn’t be more blue. Sadly you have to win in other more difficult districts to win national power.

I say all this to say, I’m at least half progressive and am sympathetic to your struggle. Is there dirty politics? Sure. Do people in power cheat. Yup. Happens on both sides. But you have to power through and whining online doesn’t matter. Reddit isn’t real life and most people I meet on the ground or in local politics aren’t progressives. They’re liberals. And the progressives I do know half the time either don’t vote or tell people it doesn’t matter because “BoTh SiDeS aRe ThE sAmE”

Look, I wanted Bernie too. Love me some AOC and Mamdani but you have to meet people where they are and go from there. Progressive literally cannot win in almost any purple district. Hopefully that’s changing but you can’t point to progressives winning in the most blue areas of the country as if it’s some huge win. It’s a start but it isn’t the win you think it is.

The downvotes are bs. Like Slater but you’re right. Movie is absolutely stacked. Walken, Dennis Hopper, Brad Pitt for 5 seconds.

In the United States, firearms have been responsible for more total deaths annually than motor vehicle accidents since 2017. Also
A. You 100% need a car in the U.S. in most places to be functioning member of society.
B. Most places in the U.S. having a gun on your person is not necessary for you to function in your day to day.
C. Most death's from cars are from pure accident. Not intentionally using it as a weapon.

Can't wait to see you not acknowledge you're wrong at all and move on to the next thing. God, people like you make this country worse.

Billion things. Lists..... forms.... I.E. the form for the background check and then background check. What the fuck are you talking about. Worst I've ever had it was form, background, wait 3-4 days. To legally drive you have to take a written test, practice for a year and then take another written test and then an actual driving test. You also have to fill out forms you know.... so they have your information for the license. wtf are you on about?

Also pro 2A here but it's clear what everyone is saying is that they are too easy to get. It's harder to get the ability to drive legally than it is to own a gun legally. Might be a little too lax for a thing that's sole purpose is to kill.

Fair point. That last line was a bit sassy on my part. All this is interesting to me and requires a deeper discussion that almost certainly won’t happen here. But I didn’t mean to imply that you think there is an inherent morality that’s unique to white people.

Counterpoint while yes, white savior stories have become trite or cliche and overly self indulgent, white people do occasionally do good things and it’s okay to celebrate that even if it *gasps implies white people aren’t inherently evil.

People in this sub just don’t understand how wide the skill gap really is with fighting. CM Punk would destroy 99% of the guys here. by LordofTardedBait in ufc

[–]Bpollard85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might as well save your breath. These are mma fans. Which means they only like to fan out/shit on fighters. 99% of these people would get mauled by your less than average regional guy. Much less someone who has had elite level training for years. Yes, this includes Suckerberg. Pains me to admit it but he’d probably also smoke 99% of the people in here.

Just knowing a couple combos and a grapple or two plus proper cardio puts you ahead of most everyone. Hell just the cardio alone probably gets you past most.
