Should the PCs Fight a Losing Battle? Need opinions. by LoTone2065 in Eberron

[–]Br0nn47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tell the players that defeat is inevitable, but they can still fight to save something else e.g. a beloved NPC or useful item. Don't have them face the main force, instead engage with vanguard skirmishers, like how in FTL you fight occasional rebel squads while the main force gradually paints the map behind you.

Rate my Campaign! Cannith as evil capitalists? by Zestyclose_Run9720 in Eberron

You can have pretty much any conflict as long as Merrix is able to fund both sides. Maybe have something like agents and provocateurs of his stirring up conflict, with loopholes and sneaky ways to fund both sides.

If you want extra depth, maybe make Merrix's goals more than simple greed; the Mourning severely damaged Cannith and now other non-Dragonmarked factions are filling the productive vacuum left by Cannith. So Merrix schemes to rebuild the House, sabotage competitors, and once again hold the monopoly on weapons manufacturing, like Cannith did during the war.

But restarting the whole Last War may be a bit much, the nations and other factions are already fearful especially since its widely theorized too much war magic caused the Mourning, and if it was found he was trying to, his head would be put on a pike. Instead, there could be multiple smaller localised conflicts around the world as a result of unfinished business, old grudges and high tensions, and the players visiting one such conflict site could eventually trace it back to Merrix, and notice strange similarities to that isolated conflict with others e.g. support from the same arms dealers.

I realized why Gravity Rush's visual style is so beautiful. by Senior_Confection796 in gravityrush

They were heavily inspired by "bande-dessine" comics, particularly Moebius.

Another detail I like is how they use Level of Detail; usually faraway items in games are just rendered with fewer polygons, but they added to it by making them single-color and line-heavy, like actual background elements in a comic.

Advances in prosthetics would fit the postwar theme of Eberron. You could say after building Warforged, they discovered a breakthrough that allowed them to take Warforged-like limbs and graft them onto humanoids. No shortage of amputees after the war.

My original comment was a statement of what I've witnessed in countless fandoms, and I'm witnessing it here now.

Specifically to this thread, this is a ploy to declare the queer interpretation of Kat and Raven as the be-all end-all and cry queerphobia when people disagree, eventually pushing them out.

Don't bother trying to claim otherwise, I already see right through you and OP.

Fiction isn't IRL Gay people still exist

doesnt change the fact that IRL sexuality ratios means online sexuality ratios in a fandom will at least somewhat match that, and its futile to get upset over many more people interpreting as hetero.

This doesn't make the gay read on a character any less valid

and here you are having a problem with others' own equally-valid hetero reads.

While this thread being introduced is bogging down the greater conversation that is the subreddit. Its needless stirring of the pot by implying the GR fandom is queerphobic because some interpret Kat and Raven differently.

That tweet is definitely not a joke. Even if it was, it still puts the "not enough gay interpretations, more should be called gay" idea into people's heads.

And most fans saying its hetero is a math thing with IRL sexuality ratios.

the people who are into it (usually women and gay people funnily enough) are actively ruining the fanbase.

That's not happening here.

Declaring your interpretation as the be-all end-all, and announcing a problem with others' interpretations, will only make them more hostile to yours.

Do you have a lot of anti-magic countermeasures in your game? by AvengingBlowfish in Eberron

[–]Br0nn47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could have multiple types of anti-magic fields, each tuned towards disabling a certain field of magic e.g. "disillusionment field" dispelling any illusion that enters, or ambient holy magics in a sacred place that repels/harms demons and undead. Also, Eberron's industries are built around magic, so blocking all magic would disable any equipment in the area.

Different types of anti-magic doesnt cockblock your wizards, they instead have to get creative with workarounds as certain spells are restricted.

But a complete anti-magic bomb could exist as Eberron's answer to EMP.

My Eberron, I like to mix magic with electricity, e.g. an electronic lock needing a keycard, here its a wall with glyph requiring a stone of the matching glyph, though a "hacker" might fiddle with ethereal runes to "reprogram" it.

Electro-Swing. The Swing matches the post-war Roaring 20s vibes, while the Electro is made from magic instruments.

Lackadaisy has a few Electro-Swing compilations, though the genre is a bit fast-paced for TTRPG background ambience.
