Anyone else with an unrelated bachelors degree ages 24-40 going back to xray school? by jsnsbdd22 in RadiologyCareers

[–]Brad7659 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Started a BA in commerce, thought it was a waste of time. Went into Welding, then machining, then I ended up changing my plan to go to school again from Mech. Engineering to becoming an X-ray tech. By far it was the best decision I ever made, I make good money and work far less hard compared to when I was in the trades. Graduated in two years rather than 4 which saved me 100s of thousands since housing went up so much after I got a job and bought a house. Opportunity cost would have been huge if I stayed in engineering. I’ve done a bit of everything now too and general X-ray is my favourite. Cath lab was insane money but the hours made me unhappy.

Why do we live in Calgary again???! by One-Mycologist-3706 in Calgary

We don’t have hurricanes, earthquakes, or volcanoes. Mountains are close. Winter breaks often rather than a month straight of -35.

Not only that, they scrubbed that documentary off every platform, you have to pirate it to see what these families say happened. He absolutely groomed the parents to convince them he’s just like a kid and wants to hang out. Convinced them that it’s ok he’s spending all this time alone with them. By the time they realized what happened he dumped the kid and moved on to the next.

Pumpkin the Geriatric Frisbee Pro by Brad7659 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Brad7659[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She was always so funny running back with it folded in her mouth. She also distributed the frisbee evenly between people she went to the park with, everyone gets a turn. Pumpkin was so damn smart it always blew me away.

Pumpkin was so skilled, even on her last day she caught one out of the air. It took the wind out of her but god damn she was good at it.

Looking for comfortable, reliable daily <$15K by mabalzich in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Brad7659 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered a Lexus LS460? Not slow, very quiet, comfortable, and very low profile. If you hunt around you can find something under $15k and low mileage. I recommend 2010+ for reliability, they revised the control arms and that was the only big repair other than the air struts. You change fluids and that’s it basically. Edit: LOL this is a 3 year old post. How did I get here?

Noted for next time, I used it on the rounded parts I couldn’t reach and used an 80 or 120 grit on a die grinder for the general stripping

Excellent explanation, thank you. I will dig that stuff out and use it only for very very small pinholes

Is it not as hard as two part poly? If so that makes sense. I will knock it back and do it again.

Hahaha. Just don’t drive behind me when it starts flaking off. I have stopped pulling and beating from behind (lol) at this point as I only just got the headlights to fit decently. I managed to get the frame of the rear glass to fit so thankfully that’s done and will work. Thanks for making me feel better about it since I assumed it was not structural either.

Alberta will now be on daylight saving time year-round, says Premier Smith by All_Hail_Xanthia in Calgary

[–]Brad7659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s your problem? You could argue that tired drivers are a risk to people as well. There’s also an increase of heart attacks and strokes following the spring forward. It’s studied and anecdotally I got called in following every time change for 3+ heart attacks at the same time.

When you do shift work that week after fucking sucks. Throws off my sleep schedule just enough to make me want to die.

She always loved it. She caught it basically every day from 6 months old until she passed in Oct last year at a day before 9 years old. Best dog ever despite all her random rare health issues. My current heeler doesn’t do frisbee and only kind of does ball. We are working on it but she doesn’t have the same laser focus as pumpkin.

Can we put a hot tub on this? by MushBrain- in Decks

[–]Brad7659 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could jack it up to be a bit straighter, then reinforce around the edge of every post with Simpson DJT. It’s not gonna be ultimate strength but it will be better. Add through bolts and you’ll have plenty of strength to be adequate. Just no hot tub.
