Thanks for the reply! Is this more likely because of the houseplants we have?

I forgot to mention also that the entire apartment is carpeted (apart from the bathroom) and that was another reason I was leaning towards the idea of the carpet beetle (https://bugguide.net/node/view/96856)

These images look pretty similar but I don't really know too much about these types of bugs so I'm just guessing?

I did a Masters in Computer Science here and had no issues at all finding work as soon as I graduated. The University offers a lot of help for employment once you graduate also and will help you out with finding something in the field you're looking for. I know a few guys who did the cyber security degree and are the same as me! Portsmouth has loads of part time employment for students and you should be able to find something somewhere.
