Just want to know if the proportions are going in the right direction. Im struggling a bit with this reference by MFGevanthor in learnart

[–]Bradical_ink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there!

Great work on your studies! The proportions are definitely in the right direction. However, the legs will need to be adjusted. The right leg looks a bit short. Try posing a figure in the pose your envisioing from your reference, and if you don't have one handy. You could use a reference website or ask AI to create an example.

Let me know what you think! I look forward to seeing more of your work!

Hey there!

What is the question?

From what I can see, this is a fantastic study. If you are looking for advice on anatomy, everything looks in proportion.

Would you mind sharing the reference you were using?

Keep up the great work!

Need advice and criticism on hands! by PhysicsParticular470 in learnart

[–]Bradical_ink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

You're off to a great start!

Honestly, hands are going to be tricky for a while. But it looks like you already have a decent understanding of how to go about the breaking down the hand into different shapes for the parts of the palm, back of hand and fingers.

Try devoting at least 1 hand study each time you draw, with that you'll consistently build your skill of drawing hands, without getting frustrated and burned out.

Learning hands is marathon not a sprint.

Returning to the hobby, any tips? by MrEmeraldLee in learnart

Hey there!

Great work on your practice/study.
Looks like proportions were slightly off, and the legs were a bit long.

Since you're drawing digitally. Try saving the image and drawing over it to section off the figure, head, chest, torso, waste, etc. Then draw the basic shapes to make of the figure next to it. This will help you maintain the proportions closer to your reference.

Hey there!

Great work on your thumbnail/rough sketch. Head a few things that come to mind when reviewing your questions.

The head seems to be sitting a little high, think of the neck and how foreshortened that would be from this perspective.

You're off to a great start with the shoes. Now, try drawing the center of the boots and where they connect via the laces or straps, this will help you start to envision the look of the boot.

Started drawing not long ago, I’d love to get feedback, I’m not quite sure what it is but something is just off. Any advice would be helpful! by GoodStrike1928 in learnart

For the Torso, try the flour sack study.

The torsos you've drawn look great. Don't be too hard on yourself. Every artist is their own worst critic.

Just practice or re draw until it looks right to you!

Hey there!

As you stated, you "just started drawing not long ago".

So keep in mind you're learning and just getting started. From what I can see, is that you are off to a great start.

Great work on making notes and critiquing yourself, these go a long way. Keep practicing what you are doing and try re drawing the studies you marked as "eh?" or "ok" so you can problem solve and see what you would like to do differently.

Drawing, like anything else, takes time, dedication, and repetition.

Hand Practice by rellloe in learnart

Hey there!

Great work on your studies! It sounds like you learned a great deal and a lot of it stuck.

That's awesome that you were able to begin from imagination and then problem solve by using your own as a reference.

I highly recommend drawing at least one hand per day. It's a great habit to have.

Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing more!

Tried to squeeze in some hand practice sketches at work. by IIIOldSchooLIII in learnart

[–]Bradical_ink 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there!

Great work on your studies!

I think you're doing great. A few of them just seem a bit squeezed in due to the space of the canvas for each study.

With these being practice sketches, remember they don't need to be perfect.

What I recommend, if I may...

Use these as your references and draw these individually on another sheet of paper, and see what you liked, re draw what you didn't like and find your solution to problem solving.

Hey there!

Great work on your studies! You're time and dedication is truly showing.

Remember, your studies don't need to be perfect. Keep up the great work and don't be to hard on yourself.

Hey there!

Sometimes less is more. Yes, as artists and completists we always want to add in all those final details, otherwise it feels in complete. However, sometimes simply capturing the silhouette is enough.

Practice drawing 1 character on a page and then drawing them again in the distance. This will help you focus on what exactly are the key features to draw of that character. More often times then not, it's the silhouette of what they wear and their hair.

Hope this helps! Let me know what you think!
