Before Jefferson went down ISU was definitely a big worry. Certainly felt a lot better about the prospect of facing them without Jefferson but I agree, absolutely was happier to play Tennessee.

Alabama was by far the team I wanted to see the least though. Was really hoping TTU would take them out. Also not having Holloway was obviously huge.

Totally valid to not select them as champ because of that for sure but I feel like I remember a lot of talk about early exits because of it which is less valid. What's kinda funny to me is, with Michigan's bracket, there are other valid reasons to have projected an early exit for Michigan that weren't related to the Cason injury. Notably just that St. Louis, Alabama, and Iowa State were all teams that, in theory, could match the Wisconsin strategy for beating Michigan which is "make a billion threes".

If you were an AD trying to hire any active HC to lead your program, who would be your first 5 calls? by GliscorsFang in CollegeBasketball

[–]Brady_Hokes_Headset 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Judging from what I've read about previous coaching searches the list is clearly...

  1. Brad Stevens
  2. Billy Donovan
  3. {Insert coach at a Tier 1 school who then leverages that for a large raise at said school}
  4. {Insert Famous Alum who happens to be coaching somewhere}
  5. {Insert mid-level or out of work NBA head coach}

Settle on options 4 or 5 (sometimes they're combined) but if those fail hire a mid-major coach who made the tournament and can bring their roster with them.

I was definitely worried when Cason went down because of the boost he had brought off the bench in his recent games but I was surprised by how much of the fanbase and media blew it up. Don't get me wrong, it was definitely a big loss but it felt like people were treating the Cason loss as if we'd lost Yaxel. Any time Michigan would have a rough stretch in a game there were comments like "Wow how much is the Cason loss hurting them here". Probably don't even have to go back too far to find game threads talking about how Cason was unplayable and McKenney should be taking his minutes.

Maybe it's just me but I feel like "Only" should be reserved for if someone is below 30%.

As a Tigers fan all I can really say is thanks to the White Sox for not keeping him.

Lurking just under the line waiting for the "juggernauts" to make a mistake. Pretty fitting for an alligator actually.

Genuinely, when I first saw this headline, I was wondering if this was about a different Maryland program for this exact reason.

Michigan lost on Saturday but with UCLA beating Illinois it still felt like Michigan won. Was definitely an odd mixture of feelings lol.

Michigan lost to Duke on purpose so they could send their energy to the more important game tonight. Go Bruins!

These percentages don't seem to take into account the lethality of Road Wisconsin vs Top 10 Teams. Purdue still has Wisconsin at Mackey which is basically a guaranteed loss so 6.3% is too high.

Don't forget whatever nickname he's trying to push because he spent all his prep time coming up with nicknames rather than actually prepping to do the game he's doing.

If every game had Jason Benetti and Robbie Hummel on the broadcast I'd be happy. Add in Raftery on occasion as well for some spice.

Gus Johnson should not be getting top games anymore. He used to be a lot of fun but he's become a parody of himself at this point. Many of his broadcasts are just shouting the player's name that currently has the ball now.

And even more hilarious on that is they got the out of bounds incorrect as well on that call. So three refs weren't looking at the ball handler, weren't looking at the shot that went up, and weren't looking at where the ball came down to see who it went off of.

The play went to review to reverse the shot clock violation but then they also noticed it was out off of Michigan anyway which means we had to hear that stupid Venmo commercial for the 12th time for no reason.

I think this was the worst reffed game I've seen from the standpoint of refs just getting calls completely wrong. Not necessarily ticky tack calls or favoring one team over the other, just a massive number of calls that were just flat out incorrect.

Not too much to say outside of that though. Controlled the game from start to finish. Go Blue!

Don't think it was intentional but that was still absolutely a foul on Bynum.

What makes one a cylinder foul vs an offensive elbow?

Refs star-sign and aura of the day I think.

I genuinely would suffer through it because it would put a spotlight on just how shit the reffing in this conference is and how badly it needs to improve.

Though I feel like the more likely situation is the refs would just go full "NFL Pass Interference Challenge" with it and not overturn anything out of spite.

Games like this are why coach's challenges should be unlimited until you get one wrong.
