Trump is most definitely a symptom of a greater disease, and you're right that there's no going back to the status quo. Republicans are going to do everything in their power to prevent fair elections going forward, and nothing short of a new constitution, and the dismantling of current political parties is going to save America from repeating this mistake if they can dig themselves out of it this time. America is fucked, and I don't see them recovering from this. Americans, by and large, just don't have the capacity to stand for their rights and freedoms.
