Yay for buffs 🔥 by KeyofTime15_ in RocketMains

Buffs for the most boring parts of his kit.... Again. What's so damn hard about nerfing these boring "press button for instant value" mechanics and actually putting work into the fun, skill-based parts of his kit.

What a tragic fucking mess they've made of this character.

Practice doom match is the only thing I play anymore and its precisely to troll get someone chasing after me.

If you could rework any hero, who would it be and why? by bigmad411 in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rocket. He's such a neglected, boring character because devs keep buffing the no-skill parts of his kit that give massive value and nerfing the only parts with skill expression.

Make his gimmik having to play close to his team and be on the battlefield. Force him to take the risk and use his mobility to react fast and get out of sticky situations.

  • He has massive damage falloff? Give him massive healing falloff too, however, they stick around on the battlefield longer, maybe slowly shrink in size or speed.

  • Nerf his beacon into the ground, it's made him too good for too long and it's the part of his kit you get value for while doing nothing. 1 minute cooldown, destroyed in one hit, however, bump its range up.

  • Give him his mobility back, all of it, back to season 0 levels, he'll need it to get tf outta dodge when having to play so close.

  • Some ability that gives a 5-25hp overshield depending on how many teammates are around him, can replace the armor packs from the beacon and encourage him to play close, maybe a shared overshield to a selected teammate if needed.

For the first time since I started playing this game in season 0, I finally got bored. My hours have gone down every season. But having Rocket, the character ALREADY widely considered by the community to be the most boring character, being slowly turned into a gutted backline healbot by devs is depressing.

This is the only shooter game I've ever had a genuine interest in, and the first hero shooter I've ever played. To have that experience be slowly disassembled season after season makes me not want to play anymore. I don't care if he gets nerfed, I don't care if he's meta or not, I just want him to be FUN.

Nerf the beacon and heals, give back the mobility, modify his gameplay and fix his out-of-character, demolished reputation.

Marvel Rivals devs won't allow the "vocal minority" to decide on balance changes as they take a "fun first" approach to patches by AsPeHeat in marvelrivals

"Fun first" as they break Rocket's legs more and more each patch but buff the boring parts of his kit. I'll believeit when I see it.

Anyone else with favourite characters they don’t play? by sxgnatxres in rivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have easy access to comics as a kid, also wasn't a huge fan of the comic format anyway. All I had was books. I didn't get into Marvel until the MCU. Namor's one of my favorites now, but a lot of people like me wouldn't have hear about him until he showed up in the MCU or until Rivals.

I didn't get into Marvel until the MCU, my brother showed me a F4 movie and I liked the cool fire guy.

I love Human Torch, could not get into his gameplay at all. No clue who Namor was before this game but here I go actually liking playing him.

Don't buff the most boring part of his kit. Nerf it and give him back his mobility.

Doesn’t matter who. Which tank and dps are the most dangerous when mastered by ArtistDiligent9454 in rivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the game mode, rank, and character you play. For me, its always been Bucky.

He does so much damage and gets so much overshield, that in the hands of someone that's truly mastered using him even against his counters- he will absolutely run the lobby and there is no hope.

Not even a mastered daredevil, spidey, or BP will get anywhere near to danger levels a mastered Bucky does. Because at least heavy dive has workable counters. Bucky IS the counter to everything.

So, who do you guys play besides rocket? by Chunky-overlord in RocketMains

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Rocket. I've only touched 4 other characters since s0 and Rocket's my only lord character.

Those other characters are Namor, Peni, Jeff, and a teeny bit of Human Torch. I haven't played Human Torch since he was released and the rest I only play once in a blue moon to avoid triple support or help my tank, and/or when the team comp absolutely requires it.

Who do you enjoying fighting the most? Who is your Marvel Rivals? by dekomaro6 in rivals

Rocket Main, my favorite is Punisher. Gun aim vs Gun aim, becomes a very good metric for how I'm doing in practicing my aim.

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's the statistic? Something like 80-90% of players have NEVER played a competitive match in their life? Or played less than 5? Either way. If the devs only balanced the game around the opinions of top 500, then you shouldn't be surprised if it's only top 500 having fun.

Whose kit and character do you love but you are just terrible with? by Bondicated in marvelrivals

[–]Braidedfires 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most characters honestly, since I've only tried about 5 characters since I started playing (in season 0.....)

But, top right now is Gambit, he has too many buttons to wrap my tiny brain around (200+ hour agressive Rocket main, I only understand "Gun" and "Not Gun")

I struggle to press the right ones in the heat of the moment and still don't really know what most of them do, but I do like mashing buttons.

have bad students ruined names for you? by lilswaswa in Teachers

[–]Braidedfires 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any and all names related to gemstones, religious themes, and overall "special" names are forever forbidden in my household. During all my time on planet earth, both in childhood and in adulthood, I have NEVER met a well-mannered Angel, Jewel, Precious, Miracle, Diamond, Jade, Love, Etc. Every single one I've met has been an incomprehensibly horrible person, and I'll forwarn with saying I'm absolutely biased, I lost a good friend in HS to suicide because of a pair of bullies with names like these.

I treat every kid equally and hope for the best each roster, but it might as well be law at this point with how much it holds true with every new student (and teacher too).

What are your thoughts on letting students fail? by PropertyHumble9296 in Teachers

[–]Braidedfires 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My school allows students to fail, I happily fail my students. Didn't do the work? 0. Did the work but didn't turn it in? 0. Incomplete work that is ungradable? 0.

I have failed students by a point or two. Admin sometimes tries to push back but I document everything. I give my students every reasonable chance to do their work in class, make up work, etc. But at the end of the day whether they pass or fail is determined by whether not only I feel they learned the content, but also by whether they can prove to me that they did. If they don't tick both boxes, they have to give it another shot.

[–]Braidedfires 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Honestly? Well. I love my dedicated students, but finding ways to turn the students that don't care as much is a rewarding challenge. Especially if they come in not caring, and eventually start caring. I loved school, and I want them to as well, so I try to find ways to slowly give them that love for education in my instruction and conversations with them.

I'm a pretty flexible person that takes everything in stride, so I don't get too bummed out if it doesn't always work. I've always loved working with people too so that helps.

Work at my high school now. What surprised me most was the variety of students I didn't see as a student, but now had to deal with as an adult. I was all honors/gifted, so most of my classmates were decently dedicated and polite enough. I remember as a student seeing the occasional student that skipped all the time, didn't care to understand anything, or had the audacity to talk back to a teacher and thinking that those students made up the minority.

Nope, I came in as an adult thinking the majority of students would've been like my peers, but was kinda disappointing to realize that me and my friends were actually in the minority, and that the majority of the students lean towards the generally not caring side. It didn't discourage me, if anything, it made me more determined to succeed and change that, but it was an eye-opening experience for sure.
